Ya, more info on what you're looking for would help us help you. I'd have to agree with Capt Dan. I graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo in 1985 and my biggest regret in life is moving out of that town! Have many friends that stayed and raised their families there and none of them regret it.

It all depends on budget and preferences as far as type of neighborhood and city. We lived in South Pasadena, and thought it ideal for families. Unfortunately in California one can never really get away from the budget issue, and the difficulty finding jobs issue.

Bakersfield has alot of nice and safe communities and is considered one of the more affordable places to live in CA...The prices have come down considerably where you can rent or buy at reasonable prices.

The answer might be analogous to "Where's the cleanest place....?" with an answer like "Your toilet bowl".

I live in Oakdale and have 3 kids its a nice small town with not a ton of problems. Up untill Thanksgiving we lived in one of the worst parts of town. It was not bad enough to keep me from going outside at night or from sitting out front with the neighbors. In fact in 8 years I never had a problem with anyone in our old neighbor hood. We finally moved across town to a larger home. Had that apt been 3 bedroom I would not have left at all.
