Default Susanville construction

Is there much going on in the way of single family residential construction in Susanville?

Yes on a limited basis. Some new homes just off Skyline are being built, some have sold, some haven't. Most should be complete by summers end. A new project was just approved for the old mill site. Those homes will won't done for a few years. The old mill has to be torn down first. They might start doing that this fall. Subdivisions here are not built like in the large areas. A builder might put in 2-20 homes at a time. This is a small area, with limited new growth.

The new homes are listed on Realtor.com, I was just looking at them yesterday. The realtor in town that is selling them is: CENTURY 21 Cottage Realty Office (530) 257-6994

Last time I looked at Susanville, it seemed like my kind of small town. Population around 4,000 people, but that was a couple of years ago. I admired it because it was small, but so far north from the rest of my family/friends in southern Calif.

The population is around 13,000. The sign says 17,000, but that inculdes the prison population.

There are 3 in Lassen County. A Fed prison in Herlong (not sure of what levels are housed there), 2 state prisons just outside Susanville. One is low to med security. Its a fire camp prison, so while they have some yards with med security inmates, they also have min secutiry yards and about 30 off-site fire camps throughout Northern Calif. Those inmates assist the Calif Dept of Forestry put out fires, community improvement projects, etc.

The other prison is a level 4, high security prison.
