They've filmed three TCAP episodes in California and all of them netted 50+ predators. Plus, relative to its population, California has many more sexual predators than the next most populous states, Texas and New York. What gives?

California is the most populated state follow by Texas than New York.

Hmm....I don't know why. Strange.

Just because they catch predators doesn't mean that they have more of them. It only means that they have caught more of them. I'd rather live in a state that catches its predators than one that pretends it doesn't exist.
Now, I am not saying that Texas and NY "pretend". I am just saying that it's impossible to know how many predators are really out there unless you somehow magically capture them all and then prevent new ones from taking their places.

I highlighted the word "filmed" above because, of course, they are more likely to film shows in CA and therefore more likely to document what happens.

This is kinda a far off theory, but I kinda think it's because it's so hard for people to get a house, car, etc in California, so some of the men literally never get a chance to grow up, and find themselves unable to get a woman their own age, so they descend into pedophilia.

wtf? why is this thread even still going? so inappropriate.

probably because it's the most populous state duh.

also, it's a good thing they are catching the predators versus not doing anything

Why is it inappropriate? Nobody is advocating sexual predation, it's just a discussion. Freedom of speech dude.

Because of the hedonism found in the local culture. Also, California is soft on crime. Criminals in California serve a fraction of the time that criminals spend in other states for the same crime. Not to mention the state has a justice system that is messed up in general.

This is from the same newspaper

This guy defrauded the elderly for a few million bucks and got 18 years.

These kids killed a security guard after he discovered them tresspassing and drinking. They beat him savagely with wood boards. They got 11 years because the DA allowed them all to plead guilty to manslaughter instead. With good time, they will be out in less than a decade. 5 sentenced in fatal beating of CA security guard (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2011/01/06/state/n224526S71.DTL&tsp=1 - broken link)

Life is very cheap in California. Just like in Mexico.

California has a new law called Chelsea's Law. If a predator goes to jail once, they go for life without parole.

That's only for the "most violent" offenders. Ie the people who have already done something to merit life w/o parole. You should not need a law to mandate this, it should be common sense. But then again, it's California.

What is Chelsea's Law?

Has anybody backed any of these claims up?
