Scientists warn of a winter "Superstorm" to hit California (San Andreas: earthquakes, living)

The scientists built a model that showed a storm could last for more than 40 days and dump 10 feet of water on the state. The storm would be goaded on by an "atmospheric river" that would move water "at the same rate as 50 Mississippis discharging water into the Gulf of Mexico", according to the AP. Winds could reach 125 miles per hour, and landslides could compound the damage, the report notes.
Such a superstorm is hypothetical but not improbable, climate researchers warn. "We think this event happens once every 100 or 200 years or so, which puts it in the same category as our big San Andreas earthquakes," Geological Survey scientist Lucy Jones said in a press release.

With all of the very cold and snowy/rainy weather this winter they had to come up with a new scare. The article clearly indicated that nothing in the current weather environment indicated this storm to be something of immediate concern, but they speculated that GW would eventually lead to this storm.

Just more "junk reporting".

You know I hope people stop crying and whining acting like this is not going to happen and start preparing because it would suck if we had other repeat just like New Orleans. So many people are not taking this seriously at all so I got feeling history is going to repeat itself again. I understand Y2K and end of the world stuff and the fact we cant change our lives everytime the TV tells us so. But if a large group of Professionals that clearly know their jobs because they do this for a living said there is a chance a large Storm is coming right at you, I would be thinking ummm yea maybe i should get prepared for the worse just in case it really does happen.

The first two I saw mentioned "god's wrath". That's when I lost interest in the commentary.
