Jack Lalanne passed away today at the age of 96.

How is this relevant to the California forum? Easy. He was born in San Francisco on September 26, 1914. Throughout his life, he helped create many exercise routines and exercise equipment that we use today. He has also been recognized for the following accomplishments:

Jack LaLanne - Firsts

Jack LaLanne - Creator of Exercise for Fifty Years

Jack LaLanne - Feats and Honors

And here is his mission, taken from his website:

"Jack LaLanne's mission is simple – To help people to help themselves feel better, look better, and live longer. Jack has motivated millions throughout his 70-year career to improve their lives by improving their health. As an expert on exercise and nutrition, Jack promotes living long through healthy lifestyle habits, by "helping people to help themselves". "Exercise is king, nutrition is queen, put them together and you have a kingdom!"

He was truly one of California's gems.

I still have early memories of a silhouette of him doing jumping jacks at the beginning of his show in the mid 1960s, with the organ music, I think channel 9 in Los Angeles.

That was so far back, I wasn't even born yet.

Every fitness trainer I follow points back to Jack Lalanne, who was the first to promote fitness and sound nutrition the way he did in the 20th century.

BB, you are probably young as I am, but if you've seen a paid advertisement of the Power Juicer with an older man in blue jumpsuit, that's Jack.

Oh, what a bummer!! Well, he sold me on his juicer anyway. I'm sure he was counting on 100.
