I know. Self-imposed suffering ... all because of vanity.

I don't know why people get down on the Mexicans for not speaking English, Heck, the French Canadians have lived in an English speaking country for 250 years and they are still speaking French.

Ha, nice one. I for sure don't see anyone complaining the signs aren't in Mandarin. The only problem seems to be with the Spanish speakers and the lack of assimilation.

Don't forget the French Canadians, they demand signs and everything else including milk cartons in French isn't that just as awful?

Lots of regular Canadians seem to think so. I don't care if they demand everything in Martian, it's Canada.

Canada .... just the simple word alone gives me the shivers ... the chills ... ruthless people ... ruthless with their language(s) ... and as ruthless with shopping carts as they are with hockey sticks ... speaking of which: do you know that shopping carts in Canada are actually used for goals in street games? Horrible, I know, but absolutely true ... I have witnessed it.

I have pondered whether a warning on the carts: "Not safe to drive in snow and ice without traction tires or chains" would reduce theft ... but I doubt it ... they also value the cart baskets for fashioning goalie masks ... really ... I have witnessed it. (I also once saw a Zamboni that I was pretty sure was built on a Safeway cart frame ... but that's another story.)

I would venture to say that Canadians are responsible for the thefts of more carts than Mexicans ... they almost never steal Mexicans ... really.

Okay, you got me there! +rep for you, for cleverness!

Seriously, anybody who blames illegal aliens for shopping cart thefts is just plain prejudiced. Nobody can look at a person and just by their looks tell if they are in the country legally.

I'd blame poor people with defective moral standards. Honest people understand that the shopping carts are store property, not to be removed from store premises, and good citizens know that they are making problems for their fellow citizens by removing the shopping carts from store premises and then abandoning them on the streets, creating problems for both the store and for their neighbors.

What you have here as perpetrators are what we often call 'trailer trash,' not that trailer trash necessarily lives in trailers.

If you want to start a topic bashing illegal aliens then let's have that discussion (in C-D's proper forum area) but otherwise it's just too far out to blame stolen and discarded shopping carts on illegal aliens. Sorry, as much as illegals annoy me, this is not an illegal alien issue. IMO

Brings up a whole series of questions; the country is bigger than all but Russia, has fewer people than California. The United States has invaded it at least twice maybe three times, so why isn't Canada part of America? Keeps me awake thinking about that.

Keep in mind that Canada has invaded the US too.

I'm probably like most Americans... Canada? Meh. I start losing interest the deeper the snow gets. By the time I've reached Canada I've lost all interest. The reason there is a Canada separate from the US is because nobody in the US cares. Sorry Canadians, that's just the way things are. I bet 50% of our children couldn't even find Canada on a map. Let alone wanting to learn to speak Canadian, eh?

Please give us a ringy-dingy if the Russians invade!
