You could definitely duplicate that east of Los Angeles, in Riverside County - there are houses larger than what you have now for under $100,000 - but you'd be two hours from the ocean.

You could even get *near* a lake, in Lake Elsinore, for under $100,000, but if you wanted to be on the lake, it would be considerably more - and it may not be the type of lake you're used to in Sheboygan.

I've lived five short blocks from the ocean, but never right on the beach - it's very expensive, and frankly, being within walking distance of the beach was good enough for me! But now I'm happier being even further inland - it's less crowded, less expensive, and more sunshine!

Not 2 hours from Newport and other OC beaches, unless there's a gnarly wreck on the 91.

No, I don't think Lake Elsinore is anything like Lake Michigan.

Just remember--No more Leinenkugle! No more REAL bratwurst! No more string cheese! No more Lake Michigan Perch! No more Door County fish boils! And the California ladies, while very beautiful, dont quite know how to keep thier men really warm on a cold winter night like the lovely Wisconsin gals! If you can accept all that, i suggest you research the Inland Empire. $100,000 wont get you anything near the coast. Good luck!

Hi There, I am from Sheboygan and have been looking into the San Diego area, and some others. I was researching Visalia and stumbled across your post, and thought what are the chances of seeing this. lol

Feel free to look at my post, and what others have recommended. While you are looking at Cities check out Craigslist for an idea of housing, jobs etc. Also use SearchTempest...its a search engine for the whole Craigslist ! ...JuJu is also a good job search engine. I will also use Google Street View to see areas as to get a feel of the Safety etc. I also Youtube Cities, Farmers Markets..Downtowns etc to watch videos on the areas of interest.

Another thing I do is zoom into an area with Google Map....Then in the window I type in my field of work Natural Food Stores...It will show all the Natural Food stores, Vitamin Stores in the area and I can call or check their website for jobs.

Hope this helps Sincerely, Chris k (Sheboyganite)
