I told you why I thought the stadium, vibe, and the fan base was cruddy, no one says you have to like it or agree.
It was a simple question, thought maybe it had been a while. The first four words of your initial response to me would have sufficed.

No attacks, believe me, if I was attacking your opinion of stadiums, I would have said, "you dont know anything about baseball stadiums". I just figured you being a californian is probably why you think angel stadium is "pretty nice". Youve probably never spent much, if any time at places like Wrigley, Fenway, camden, progressive, etc.
It's an ad hominem, being a Californian doesn't invalidate my opinion. And I was never equating it to some of baseball's best stadiums

Does that some how change the fact that they were horrible stadiums? Thats a poor reach there. Thats kind of like saying "40 years ago smoking cigs was not seen as bad as they are today" Does that mean cigs were better for you 40 years ago then????
Nope, but cigs were more acceptable back then just as those stadiums were. It's all relative.

So you put Angels stadium down there with the Q, the stick, the colisuem, and Arco. I wouldn't, but to each their own.

Well I guess you thought wrong. No worries.

Well if you want to have me respond the way you want me to, then you might as well ask me the questions and then answer them for me, but my guess is thats not going to be much of a conversation.

I never once said your opinion was invalid. My point was more along the lines of being a Californian influences your opinions. If all you have are 5 out of 30 stadiums and you have not been to any others, just how informed is your opinion? I mean you can correct me if I am wrong and you have been to a lot of other stadiums.

As you said, its all relative. We are not comparing angel stadium to a pile of dog poo, its compared to other stadiums when determining various factors of the quality of the stadium.

Thats not really the point. You were trying to argue that because there was an all star game in angel stadium, that this changes the fact that its not an impressive field. Which is not the case (IMO), all star games are played at crappy fields all the time. And if you think that people did not think sf or oaklands stadiums (and a slew of others) were crappy when they had all-star games, you are mistaken.

Never mind the fact that the all star game is a gimmick show, no body cared about it until bud selig made it so the winner gets homefield advantage in the WS.

Well I would not compare a baseball facility to a non baseball facility. But I will say this, there are 30 teams and facilities in major league baseball. Angel stadium is definately not in my top20.

I'm not trying to engage is some week long debate and risk you going on more random tangents to argue more. You think Angels stadium sucks and I don't think it's that bad. Case closed.

Right, cute. I was actually staying on topic when I merely noted that like the rest of california people in sac settle for sub par facilities. Youre the one who singled out me in a reply and asked me about the angels and brought some nonsense all-star game correlation into the discussion..... and I'm the one going off on "random tangents"?

"Do as I say not as I do".

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: Biography from Answers.com
Raised in Brooklyn and schooled in Westwood, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar never quite warmed up to clogging or cheese making in Milwaukee. After six years of powering the Bucks to a 342-150 record and a league championship, Abdul-Jabbar felt he had done his time in the Midwest. He wanted to go to the Knicks or Lakers, and there was nothing the Bucks could do about it.
"Live in Milwaukee? No, I guess you could say I exist in Milwaukee," Abdul-Jabbar said in a early magazine interview. "I am a soldier hired for service and I will perform that service well. Basketball has given me a good life, but this town has nothing to do with my roots. There's no common ground."

It took eight months for the Bucks to find the right deal for Abdul-Jabbar, and in that time both sides reportedly had a gentleman's agreement to keep the trade demand quiet. GM Wayne Embry claims to have tried every course of persuasion with Jabbar, including offering to fire anybody in the front office. But it was a cultural issue with Abdul-Jabbar, a need to be back in a big city.

You think that's Carmelo Anthony's excuse?

I think melo wanted more money and attention but it is still a possibility. Although I don't find Denver to be a boring place but hey others may not agree.

I don't think some so calers got the memo that flip flops are generally only kosher for 2 cirumstances. One, is taking a shower in jail/prison/bootcamp (ie a place with a high probability of foot fungai), and the other is going to the beach/pool. Wearing them anywhere else just makes you look like trash.

I think the so cal baseball scene is easily and by far the worst in the united states. Which is sad considering how much that was not the case for the baby-boom generation.

I did not know this about Kareem, I just thought the parallels were interesting.

Actually, the parallels end there, because Carmelo is no Kareem.

Actually, IMO anybody that kind find things to like about Denver and/or Milwaukee might be missing a few bolts themselves.

Culture, schmulture, I say.

I think Carmelo wanted New York specifically, not just a bigger city. It had more to do with his hometown than culture I think. I've found that most sports stars who come to Denver end up sticking around even if they end up playing elsewhere. It's a very inviting place to live. I don't think Melo wanted out because of anything the city/area lacked. It just wasn't New York.
