Even so, California's demographic makeup showed dramatic changes since 2000 as the Hispanic and Asian populations rose and the white share of the state count fell to two in five residents.
The black population declined just under 1%, its first drop ever in the state.
Gains by Hispanics did not keep pace with the 1990s rate: up 28% vs. 43%. Still, Hispanics are 38% of the state's population. The Asian population rose 31% to 4.8 million — 13% of the state. Non-Hispanic whites declined 5.4%.

So more Asians and Hispanics populate the state these days. That would only mean a much more colorful culture added to the already lively state. Or correct me if I'm not really getting it right. I just happen to look at it on the positive note.

Fewer gabachos = fewer yobs for house cleaners and gardeners. Maybe the Asians will take up the slack.

USAToday is being a bit sensationalistic in its reporting-Sounds like East Coast wishful thinking-as if most of those dusty states back there could ever again grow the way CA still does.

Blacks didnt 'decline' in the sense that their numbers shrank, but Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders grew way faster and gained percentage share at a greater rate as well.

Black Population in California
2010 Census 2,299,072
2000 Census 2,263,882
10 Year Change: +35,190

So basically it's the percentage that changed, the actual number grew just ever so slightly. So much for blacks fleeing the state as so many on here rant about. So much as well for anyone fleeing the state in droves

Now sit back and watch how those whom I'm referring attack your source LOL

Well, after revisiting my source, IE the census bureau(LOL), I have to sort of restate myself.

California actually saw a decrease in Non-Hispanic Blacks pointed increase in BLACK HISPANICS! Which actually adds to our overall diversity. So in sum, Blacks increased by 35,000---but Non-Hispanic Blacks did in fact decrease a little, which is not unique to California. I think we're going to see that trend be the case in other states. African Americans have been relocating to the South in great numbers lately and there isnt anything necessarily wrong with that, but I lament the loss of Blacks here.

Here is the source straight from the Census Bureau.

The Asians on my block (and my family) usually do their own lawns. That's what having kids are for

Besides, to most other Asians...there really isn't much of a jump between Filipino and Mexican

I wonder where most of this growth is occurring.
Methinks it's the coastlines and also anywhere south or west of the major mountain ranges of the state.

At this point, the CA deserts remain the dumping ground for the misfits of all culture.
Too poor to remain in the bigger metro areas, too scared to venture any further east beyond Baker or Needles.
