I doubt she's going to have to worry - its a bikini, not porn. Oh, and envious much?

I still haven't seen a quote from one of my posts in this thread about whites being victimized by Asians.

You should try reading your own posts some time. You contradict yourself and commit multiple fallacies. Just so you know, what you say shows how poorly you think. One reveals the other.
Please do not talk about poor thought when you're not stable enough to understand what I'm talking about.

There comes a certain point where the institution itself is not to blame anymore, and has to fall on personal responsibility.

I blame this ONE person and this ONE PERSON alone for the stupidity of her comments. She didn't say anything illegal, nor anything that could be considered incitement or fighting words (look up the fighting words doctrine, from Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire [1942]) so the whole idea that "its for the public safety" goes right out the window.

Until you make the words mean something, they are just that, words. Anyways, its good all of this is out in the open, instead of doing some passive-aggressive BS where we all hate each other secretly.

I won't let this ONE PERSON define who I am. If she thinks all Asians are the same, that's her problem. It won't change anything about me. Most of my friends, Asian and non-Asian, would agree with me on that assessment.

Hah, that video was made by a friend of a friend of mine in Sacramento.

As a Muslim American (not very religious, but still identify with the religion), I'm pretty glad the way most Muslim Americans handled themselves in the post 9/11 world. Unlike in Europe, where Muslims actively RIOT (for various reasons that aren't relevant to America thankfully), Muslims here for the most part don't care what most of the bigots have to say and live their lives. Sure, there is a vocal minority who aspire to live through some sort of stereotype, but for the most part life has to move on and not be held hostage by a few wackos who think that THEIR interpretation of things in the world is the right one.

At the end of the day, all any of us are trying to do is survive. Purposefully causing tension for little or no reason doesn't help anyone, but rather causes more problems in the long run.

As a final note, I will never EVER let anyone make me into a victim. Don't make me feel sorry for myself because of things I have no control of, its pure stupidity! I'd rather take that energy and put it into bettering myself, my loved ones, and my community.
If the school did not issue a statement about this and it got swept under the rug, what are you thinking will happen? Nothing? It's not about riot inciting speech or whether it's legal or illegal what she said. The fact is nobody at UCLA wants anybody fighting over this, it's not about legality it's about civility. Why are you talking about the legal aspect and keep saying she's not violating laws, who cares about that. Neo Nazi's aren't either when they scream kill all Jews. They are protected so is this bimbo but it doesn't mean there's not somebody out there willing to commit some crazy act.

She had every right to air her opinion as she did but the criticisms of her and the social consequences are legitimate as well.

You were talking about your "expertise" which you have because you took a sociology class and because you have personal experiences.

Since that's your idea of 'expertise', I think you aren't amenable to reason.

Back to the topic at hand, I don't think she did anything objectively wrong. Among her complaints were that a distinct group of people were:
  1. having loud cell phone conversations in the library, which is one of the only place where resident students can study
  2. inviting their entire family to use the common laundry facilities at her apartment complex- that entails non-residents using the complex facilities
Why do all the "she's a racist" people condone those behaviors?

Do you think it is "right" to do those things?

As for this video....

That young man is having an identity crisis. Is he Asian? I thought he was before the video started. Now I'm not sure.

Do you "condone" "ching ching ling long ting tong?" And do you think it is "right" to make such a mockery out of another ethnic group's language?

First off, her video was tasteless and ill conceived, but should people be so thin-skinned? I've heard people mock French, German, Spanish, Russian and Swedish, Italian (complete with wildly waving hands) and Arabic over the years. Granted, they may not have been posted on Youtube, but I don't really think any such mocking turning into a national incident. She's a clueless ninny who's commentary has been way more weight and attention that it deserves. Actually, here is a Youtube one:

Of course they're British - maybe not so P.C. as here.

First off, the video you posted is intended for comedial purposes. In this girls case, she voiced out her opinion and generalized and entire racial group. I had no qualms whatsoever until she went with the "ching chong ling long ting tong." Like I said before, she had every right to air her opinion as she did but the criticisms of her and the social consequences are legitimate as well.
