That person who did the racist rant should have visited UCLA before she made the decision to enroll in that school. It is well know that Asians make up a large percentage of the school population. UCLA is well known for:

U = Univeristy
C = of Caucasians
L = Lost in
A = Asia

I do not think the backlash to the person who did the rant was appropriate. I would look the other way since it is not going to change anything on how a person feels about a certain race.

Also, I see some Asians agreeing with the person doing the racist rant. Well, I would call you being a token asian guy or woman, lol.

But seriously, I feel people are getting a bit too worked up over this video. She made some sweeping generalizations about a group of people. I have heard much worse from people, and I am sure most of you have too. There are many videos, websites, literature, etc. that say much worse about all types of groups. The only reason this video is getting so much publicity is because of her mentioning the tsunami and that Japanese fall within the "Asian" group that she is talking about. Not to say that it is ever OK to make a video about stereotypes of particular group, but the timing for this video could not have been worse. What is more shocking to me than what she said in the video is that a student at UCLA could be so ignorant. It really makes me wonder how she was able to get admitted to UCLA to begin with. That being said, I do not think that the UC should take action against her. She has her right to free speech. Like others have mentioned above, the video becoming so viral and her name being publicized will be punishment enough. I am sure there will not be a day that goes by where she doesn't regret making that video.

Well to play devil's advocate if you live in the LA area and our white you are now a minority.

As long term LA resident(over 20 yrs) who relocated to the east coast and was back there last year to LA for a visit, it is very noticeable.

Walked around the Beverly Center and were the only white people in the shopping center.

Everyone was either Asian, Middle Eastern, or African American.

It was hard not to notice, especially after moving away from the area and coming back after being gone a few years.

Does give a white person an idea of what it is like to be a minority, because in LA you now are one.

Not a racist comment, just a fact.

There are many people who agree with her. Library is the place where people STUDY. It's not a bazaar. Period. People go there to study and they need to concentrate. College cost money, time, efforts. Wanna talk? Go outside and talk! Hell! Is this that hard?? Why not respecting others? It's amazing how many people blame her because of what she said, but nobody wants to see that she is right about the library and what is going there. This is her point! Not Asians. If Mexicans/Whites/etc would do same, she'll say same about them, I am sure. This girl simply lives by rules. Is it bad? Don't be laud in library, drive by rules, respect this country and people who live here, and nobody will tell a single bad word about you, no matter what color your skin is! Respect other people. If those students would respect other people, they would not talk in library, where people study. That girl was brave enough to say the truth. Other people keep silence, like sheep. We deserve what we have because we don't talk - crime, dirty streets, violence, millions of illegal immigrants.
I am not saying that we need to offend other race or culture. No. What I'm saying is next: RESPECT OTHERS and you will live in a great country. By "others" I mean all people, all races, all ages, women, men, kids. Just respect others! Live by rules. Make this country better. "Honoratur arbor ob umbram."

Actually to me, listening to it over again, it isn't all that bad. She posted it on youtube, maybe to just get some laughs like what comedians do when they make jokes about other races. I heard a lot worser. And in one part, she warned people that she is not politically correct and people should not take offense so that says a lot about her.

Nah, I modeled (and got paid) through school and I will tell you she's not going to make it to the big time. Why do guys always assume that girls are jealous? She's thick in the middle and photoshopped to all heck. And she's showing underboob, not good for politics. Some men won't be able to tell the difference, so I'll leave you to your ignorant bliss. In the grand scheme of UCLA girls, she's a 5/10. UCLA girls are hot.

I personally like to see how long a thread can live and I like how the CA moderators aren't so heavy-handed in their administration of this forum.

If you look at state forums like the Utah forum, you see how stifling moderators can be.
Ok, I take back my post because you are absolutely right

Better get used to it. The UC system apparently prefers asian students and admits as many as legally allowed without being so obvious in their preference. Asians obviously are happy about this and feeling it.
So you'd prefer affirmative action to be reinstated so that fewer Asians are admitted?

It's called getting in based on merit and Asians have the highest scores. The UC system apparently "prefers" those with higher grades than those with lower grades. Outrageous isn't it?

If there wasn't affirmative action, the UC would be like 99% Asian... LOL

Agreed. The young woman basically made a fool out of herself by posting such a video, and she has to live with the consequences. Can you imagine how this would go over in a future job interview?

I'm wondering if this is symptomatic of a lot of people in their 20s and younger, who seem to have a very different outlook or idea of personal space or privacy with sharing so much personal info over the web.
