Exactly. But, dowtown is hardly a ghost town at night. Maybe later at night, but that's not really a destination for us. That's what I love about SF - the life of the city is in it's neighborhoods and it's so much fun to go out in different areas - different people, different vibe.

That being said, SF's dowtown is beautiful and there are A LOT of amazing restaurants downtown.

There's a lot more to downtown than the buildings lining Market Street, but North Beach is NOT considered dowtown and Noe Valley is quite far from downtown. The Mission does not border downtown. The Mission borders SOMA, Tenderloin, the Castro, Portero Hill, Bernal Heights and Noe Valley.

Downtown SF is overrated, played out, and filled with tourists.

Dude, where are you? You seem so hateful to SF that it leads me to believe you've got some jealousy issues. I understand - many people who don't/can't live in SF are jealous of those of us who can and do live in SF.

I looove how san fransiscans assume that someone MUST have issues if they dont LOVE sf. Are you trying to fit into a SF stereotype? Even if I was far from SF, which im not I would not be jealous. To think that SF is in the same league as cities such as Barcelona, Honolulu, and London (ie a city worth being jealous of) is kind of funny though. s'cute.Gimmie the gritty of downtown LA.

Clearly you do have issues Don Vito, because you take every chance you can to bash the hell out of SF (often on completely ignorant claims). Most people would just ignore something they dislike. The gritty of downtown LA? As opposed to the lack of grit in downtown SF? Proof you have no idea what you're talking about.

Maybe I'll expand a little: the central part of downtown LA, and SF, are just as nice as each other. In my experience, the grit of Downtown LA would be Broadway, Skidrow, etc. If you're including that, you gotta include mid-market, Civic center, parts of SOMA, the Tenderloin, and maybe even Chinatown for SF. And those parts of SF are GRITTY.

I love how a san fransiscans immediate reaction is "ignorance, jealousy, etc." You don't know where I live or what ive seen, so please rah stop being a san fransiscan and stop assuming you know all about me.

since when is the tenderloin and china town part of down town? down town to me is market street bro. and you dont have to agree with my opinion, as hard as it is not too. SF's down town is way over rated.. there is nothing to do and it is not lively or charming. Downtown LA has the real feeling of being somewhere important.

Dude, what do you expect when you seemingly appear on SF threads just to trash SF? Usually, when people target something with such venom there are issues behind the attack - issues like ignorance and jealously. So, yes, I feel you're maybe jealous because you don't live here.

Since we don't know you - enlighten us - where do you live?

It's not about people liking or not liking SF - it's about (as I said above) the constant appearance of you on threads trashing SF. Why? What are your issues with SF? Your not expressing opinions, you're attacking. So, you have issues with SF. It's obviously. You have not entered into a normal discussion, but rather said a slew of incorrect things about SF and her people.

One of my best friends in NYC hates SF. It's fine. She has expressed her views and although I don't agree with her, they are her opinions. But, she didn't and doesn't berate SF at all. In fact, we joke, because I am not a big fan of NYC.

It's not funny in the least that San Francisco is comparable to great cities of the world, because San Francisco *IS* a great city of the world.

Perfect example of an attack. It reeks of jealousy.
