Of course you're entitled to an opinion, as am I. And my opinion is that when someone launches and assault of petty attacks against something there are issues there. It's the manner in which you state your opinion that makes you suspect, not your opinion itself.

I never said downtown SF exotic. I generally prefer to spend my time outside of downtown areas in any city I visit - the true life of great cities is found in the neighborhoods, not downtown. There is an abundance of life in SF's neighborhoods. When I lived in Minneapolis, most of the life was found dowtown and I didn't like it. There's little life in the neighborhoods there. I love that I can go out in San Francisco's many neighborhoods and experience a different vibe. It's great.
Still, this thread is comparing the downtowns of Los Angeles and San Francisco, and SF's downtown blows LA's away.

That's true. The life of LA is outside it's downtown, which I love. Same with SF, although there is more to offer in downtown SF than downtown LA, and downtown SF is a lot prettier. Both cities offer so much more outside of their downtowns. I'm so glad I don't live in a city that relies on downtown for all it's life.

I do not live in the Haight - I am there often because I go to Amoeba and Golden Gate Park often. From my house, in the Castro (if you must know), it's an easy and pleasant walk to the Haight.
You're so funny. Truly. Your comments just have me laughing here, because I don't understand why you are so heavily on the attack with regards to anything San Francisco. Have you ever been to downtown San Francisco on a weekend day? I work downtown, I shop (mostly) downtown, I go to movies downtown, sometimes I dine at a fine restaurant downtown, and sometimes I go out for a night out downtown. As I've said before, I spend most of my free time in the many neighborhoods.
What does it matter that I'm not a Bay native? I've travelled throughout most of the U.S. and Europe. I love San Francisco most of all American cities, so I moved here. So what?

Yes, and that's what makes it great for both cities. There's so much life throught both cities, especially SF, that their downtown's don't need to play the biggest role. It's one thing I love about both cities.
