Two reasons why SoCal is better than NoCal...
There are two reasons why Southern California is better than Northern California:
1) Los Angeles
2) San Diego
Don't you agree?

The only city I like in NoCal is San Francisco.
I do like Los Angeles and San Diego, but the only reasons SoCal is better than NoCal is because of the beaches and the weather.

Meh, San Diego is just a consolidated Orange County. I prefer more relaxed, liberal environments. The weather is better than the Northern California coast, though.

Trolling for an argument I see. I'll bite. So Cal is great if you enjoy fake people with a plastic surgery addiction. The beaches are great if you've never been to a real exotic beach such as the ones that exist in Hawaii parts of florida and elsewhere. San Diego is a huge boring suburban city, La is a crime and smog infested ugly sprawled out hell hole with no real downtown.

Why stop with just 2? There are a BEVY of reasons
Yes, two good starters are LA and SD - both worldclass cities
The entertainment capitol of the world
The weather
The film community
HUGE and sprawling - while SF is a claustrophobic sardine packed town full of conscientious uptight overly worried "political" folk (as listed above)
The museums
Hundreds of wonderful restaurants
There is no other city quite like LA, although I can think of atleast 5 others that mirror SF...
the reasons could go on, but I gotta go for a run, best wishes!

I prefer SoCal myself. The weather and all the things you can do.

I really like SF but the homeless problem is out of control. I can't even take my three year old son to the beach in Santa Cruz without being hassled. He witnessed his first bum fight so we dove into the closest store - Borders. He wanted to go potty but their bathrooms were shut to the public unless you went upstairs to buy a coffee and get a token for the bathroom.
Shopping in SF one morning we were greeted by a huge load of human poop on the sidewalk in front of a posh store. It's disgusting there lately which is too bad as I really do like the city. I just don't want to have to dodge aggressive beggars and human waste anymore. I do accept that in any large city you can't escape it, but when my child's safety is at stake, I've got to put him first.

This argument is strictly opinionated......
Los Angeles and San Diego are not valid reasons for justification. NorCal and SoCal are two completely different areas that are absolutely opposite from each other and it definately depends on the person and what their interests are. This thread is subjective to separate peoples experiences and opinions of both areas.
There is absolutely no way in Hades that a Southerner is going to convince a Northerner and visa versa. Although, in MY OWN experience I would much prefer Northern California over Southern California, but I will admit if Los Angeles was not so extremely polluted, corrupted, and "FULL OF ITSELF" than it really would not make much of a difference to me. Aside from the "mystery weather" that Northern California offers so often I think Northern California is a much more attractive area than SoCal.
There are three distinct areas that rival SoCal and it is as follows: Sacramento is the San Diego of NorCal - the Bay Area is the L.A. version of norcal - and finally Fresno is the Bakersfield of NorCal. Now, most people would argue that Fresno belongs to Southern California, but who do you really think Fresno would pick if the city could vote for itself??? I could go on for days about how wonderful Northern California is compared to Southern California and I know I haven't painted the clearest picture for everyone reading but I think the sophistication, charm, rolling grassy hills along with the many beautiful Bay's connected to the Ocean make Northern California probably my top 10 greatest areas in the World.
Santa Cruz has attractive "surfer friendly" beaches including a Boardwalk with an amusement park, there are palm trees in NorCal just like SoCal (except compared to Beverly Hills), Marine World Africa USA in Vallejo is a great aquarium/amusement park, San Francisco has great attractions to satisfy any visitor, Oakland is a huge cultural center for any ethnicity that you can think of, Sacramento is the same and has even been voted in 2004 for it's extreme ethnic diversity, the Wine tasting and vineyards in Napa Valley attract thousands to millions, and who said San Jose was a terrible representation for the most populated city???
I think San Jose is great....I mean San Jose is not known at all for it's nightlife because it's more family oriented, but who can deny the cities contribution to advanced technology engineering and computer companies? San Jose is the headquarters for eBay, Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, and Hitachi. Now, the city of San Jose's downtown skyline is laughable but compared to other cities it is one of the Sunniest in NorCal. San Jose is a very high-tech, brainiac, nerdy intellect city but it offers much including a massive asian population (nearly 30% of the city) which definately leads to great cuisines and authentic restaurants. The hispanic population is also neck and neck with the asian population.
In conclusion, along with the entire Greater Conglomerate of the San Francisco Bay Area, Tracy, Modesto, Stockton, Davis, Santa Cruz, and especially the Sacramento metropolitan Northern California is a mecca of ethnic diversity, advanced technology, history, law & government, economy, Arts and Architecture, sports, transportation, education, and FULL of never-ending attractions. The only thing that compromises its charm is the Climate/Weather, escalation in the cost of living and real estate, and also its outrageous GAS PRICES!!! Translation....in general it's more expensive to live in NorCal than SoCal. There is a cost to all of this beauty and physical attraction.
Those are pretty much my thoughts, so if I had it my way it would give me much pleasure to pursue a love affair with NorCal if it were possible, lol. I am sickeningly obsessed with what NorCal has to offer. It really is such a great place. For anyone who has never been, reasearch all the attractions that interest your individual personality and JUST GO!!! DO IT!!! LOL.

I'm sorry I forgot one other area that interests me that I must also share. As for me being a filipino-american I am overwhelmingly PROUD to admit this particular information. Read carefully below:
Daly City and a few communities in Los Angeles and Santa Clara Counties (such as Monterey Park, Milpitas and Rowland Heights) are the only majority-Asian cities in the continental United States. Many of the Asian Americans residing in Daly City are Filipino Americans, with a sizable number of Chinese Americans.
I would invite anyone who is not already prejudice of this particular minority group to visit Daly City just minutes from South San Francisco and experience absolutely every single attraction that this city has to offer. This city is 50% Asian with a 33% filipino presence. If the other attractions are not for you, then I'm sure the ethnic filipino dining will satisfy your tummy
