Hi,
My wife and I live in San Diego and looking for the best doctors/surgeons who specialize in abdominal myomectomy and fibroids and we would be willing to travel anywhere in California. Dr. Paul Indman (Los Gatos) and Dr. William Parker (Santa Monica) are highly recommended, but they are not in our health insurance CIGNA PPO.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you so much!

Hi,
I live in San Diego , Ca. I had an abdominal myomectomy in August 2009. Dr. Robert Barmeyer did an amazing job. I think he does take your insurance. You should give his office a call. He's an awesome

Obgyn. His number is 858-499-2702. I think and he's located at 2929 health center drive. Good luck.
Angelica

Could your regular Dr have some recommendations for you? I needed some surgery last year and my GP gave me a list of Dr's, all in my health plan and local to me, and ranked them 1-4 in order of her preference.

Thanks, Ceece. My wife's gyn wants to perform the surgery herself, but her nonchalant comment "we will do the myomectomy, but if you're bleeding a lot during surgery, we may just do a hysterectomy" made us very comfortable. Dr. Indman and Dr. Parker are specialists in fibroids and I heard that if the surgery is for myomectomy, they would not surprise patients with a hysterectomy instead. However, they do not accept insurance.

At this point in time, we are willing to travel anywhere in California just to have a fibroid specialist/gyn/surgeon who is very experienced in performing open/abdominal myomectomy.

Hopefully the o.p. has figured it by now since the thread is over a year old.

Hi,
Thank you to everyone for their recommendations and posts. My wife had the surgery with Dr. Alison Jacoby at UCSF last August and we were really impressed with her. We highly recommend her!

I had an abdominal myomectomy for every type of fibroid done by Dr. Marilyn Honegger in Berkeley, CA in January 2011. The surgery was so successful I have a very faint scar just three inches long, very thin line, and still healing. So, with time, I won't have any scar at all! Right after surgery, the incision line was about five inches long, very thin.
