If you are using a pickup to haul cargo or a boat I understand but, I am talking about people who buy big trucks and they are the only ones driving around in it, they have no utility use for it. Believe me I don't drive a Prius, I don't like them at all, I have a GMC Acadia but, I actually use it to haul cargo.

Most of the people I know in CA love Walmart/Target. I don't care for Walmart but I like that they exist in CA -- the more competition, the better.

I like how people move here and drive up housing prices. That's how my $600k home became $1.3M.

Sorry you're wrong. The coast has the most moderate climate -- it doesn't get below freezing except maybe once every 10 years. Inland is where it gets cold. The ocean keeps temps steady

In fact, joining the Coast Guard used to be a traditional means by which the sons of politicians avoided real military service.
Nah, that be the National Guard, like ole Bush and that VP guy for Bush, what was his name?

The Coast Guard gets my respect, their SAR guys hang it on the line, for you.

I was in a Destroyer off Cape Hatteras one wild night when the oil tanker Texaco Oklahoma broke up and sank. Our skipper would not come off course to aid, as he thought we might turtle. The Coasties put out to sea, despite the risk.

I have watched them many times completely bury their boats leaving Morro Bay harbor to rescue some poor *******, they dive, the boats come up again, I consider their bravery on a par or higher than any other segment of any other service.

2. We hate people that come here and think that it is all glamor Hollywood and good weather, especially people from other countries who have virtually no knowledge about our state except what they have seen on Baywatch. They never bother to go hiking or explore the rest of the state (I guess that is good because, we like to keep secrets).

3. We hate people that move here and buy huge houses and drive the housing prices to Pluto.

4. We hate your huge pickup trucks with V8 diesel engines that sound like a big rig. They take up the highway and can't fit in the parking slots.

5. We accept gays because, they are one of the last minorities (along with Atheists, like myself) that the rest of Americans seem to think it is okay to attack. We like to pride ourselves on being a safe haven.

6. We are not anti-military, we are pro-military but anti-war. I myself will be joining the Coast Guard in the near future.

7. Its not all sunshine, it rains pretty substantially here in the winter months and gets below freezing near the coast.

8. We like our environmental laws because, LA has some of the worst air pollution in North America, my girlfriend can't go to the LA area because she has extremely bad asthma. I would not want the same air pollution that China has.

9. We are not anti-gun quite a few of us own guns, in fact I know a man that has a collection of over 30 different guns However, we are not Texas and we don't want to see people with the 50 caliber revolver hanging from their belt.

10. With the exception of Berkley and LA, most of the state is generally conservative.

-Thanks for understanding.

Dang you're tough. Tell ya what. Instead of playing with toy soldiers, consider joining the real Army and then experiment. If you can't hack that then the Coast Guard is no place for you. They have a real mission with or without wars.

By the way and just for balance, Californians, before the housing crash, were known to move to other states and drive up their housing prices.

PS. I'm a native Californian and I don't think the way you do.

Can't, the paperwork is already filed. I know how tough the Coast Guard is, its like a toned down version of the Marines with more yelling. Lastly for the record, most of what I have stated are my opinions, don't take it as fact. I just needed to say it because, a lot of us hardly insult other states but, it is common and okay to insult Californians in other states. In fact I have heard stories of people who had their car keyed in other states because, they have CA plates.

Two different missions, two different philosophies, and neither of them hold much of a candle to a hotshot crew.

Never been on a hotshot crew have you? I have worked with Marines on fire, and with hotshots, the poor Marines were dumbfounded as the longhaired bearded Hotshots worked them into the ground, day after day.
