Just curious.

I moved to New York, then Hoboken, NJ until I could figure out where to settle (still looking for that laid back northeastern city that emulates the California lifestyle).

Moved out because I hate hot weather (and that was in norcal), and I wanted to get as far away from the parents as possible.

You?

Moved to the Ozarks. Left CA because of its economy and it's politics which made it worse.

I wanted to move out of socal for over a decade. I visited a friend in Oklahoma and fell in love with the open space and breathable air, and laid back pace. Was able to get a house which was about a years worth of rent in socal. I've lived here going on three years and nobody could get me back into smog and choke air.

I still love the open space and laid back pace here. I wish I'd found it ten years before. With family all moving out of California in a few years, I wonder if they'll be a reason to visit.

I still think its funny here when people say how windy it is... live for over 20 years in the santa ana wind tunnel where it never quit the big gusts, and I just consider it a breeze most of the time.

I was surprised to read that in 2009 Missouri was only #2 in the nation in Meth production, behind Tennessee.

They made up for, in 2010 Missouri was #1 in the nation for Meth production.

Rednecks and chemicals, a scary combination.

And I'm not surprised at your sick fascination, if not obsession, about all things Missourian. Something about California, land and "nuts" comes to mind.

A national laughingstock of governance and airs of superiority that are clearly the triumph of fiction over reality.

Now run along, Fauntleroy!

We left CA in 1993 when our oldest was about to start High School and the schools were out of money and ending a lot of educational programs. We visited relatives east of Seattle and decided it was the place for us. I personally disliked the heat, though some family members miss that.

I left to go to college. Ended up staying in the DC area after graduation because my degree carried little weight on the west coast, but I had numerous job offers in the mid-atlantic. I'm still here because I met my husband (and is family's from Baltimore).

I'd love to move back to So Cal, but the likelihood of DH & me both finding a job in the same city is slim to none.
