Hi,

I have screened my neighborhood for sex offenders MOD CUT today and I have found shocking results: there are living over 80 sex offenders in my hometown.

I am not sure how to react. Should I confront the people on the list with the facts? Should I warn my neighbors?

How many sex offenders are living in your town and how do you handle this situation?

Regards!

I don't believe you can confront them about their situation. They are registered offenders, meaning they have been convicted and were penalized.

They have many of the same protections under the law that others enjoy too, and I don't believe you can confront or threaten them without finding yourself in trouble with the law too.

I would not let this bother me, nor would I think about confronting them. They have registered, which they are required to do, you do not know the particular offense, (some are almost rediculous, others very serious) and I am sure your neighbors can find out for themselves. You would be opening up a can of worms and looking like a nosey resident.

These people could be simply former internet porn providers that accidentally posted a 17 year old's picture, not any danger to you or your family. Still, with that many, some may be more of a threat. If you are that concerned you can do research on their names and find out what the ones closest to you actually did, there may be court records or
newspaper articles that you can find.

In my city of 55,000 there were 3 when I checked a couple of years ago, but currently 0.

Jeeze people, this is nothing but buzz marketing spam. You fell for it. How could you miss the TWO mentions of the URL?

Yeah, I know but ......

I highly recommend confronting each and every one of them - and then some. After you've finished confronting all the sex offenders in your own area, start branching out into other areas and confronting. Only YOU can make the world a better place - it starts with YOUR actions!

After all the sex offenders have been confronted, I suggest the confrontations begin with petty shoplifters.

It's really gotta suck if your town has a population of 90. Bound to make ya paranoid.

Don't forget a lot of so-called "sex offenders" were 18-year old boys who got caught having sex with their 16-year old girl friends. There are always those who attempt to profit from others' fears.
