30 minutes from the beach? How many million dollars in transferable equity will you be bringing with you?

Maybe somewhere in Santa Barbara County or San Luis Obispo County. And like Brenda said, bring your millions.

Be advised, in the parts of California with chaparral covered mountains (that's most of the state's mountains within 30 minutes of the beach), dirt bikes are forbidden in the closure areas during the fire season. There won't be year-round use like there is up in WA.

Moving from washington : where is the best country living
Do you want to live in Northern, Central or Southern California? Are you looking for country-living, or do you want to be within 30 minutes of the beach?

Thank you all for your replies. We are learning allot I will look into the two counties that your recommended ! We are actually thinking of even swapping houses from craiglist as we have a beautiful 5 acre 5 bedroom 3 bath home , shop , garden , green house and much more but We have two children with several autommune diseases and think it would be better to have warm climate and to get out and excercise more Here we love it but very little to do for several months at a time

You can get a nice place inland for that, but the summer heat will be oppressive. You might want to look somewhere like Mariposa County

If you want land for less than the millions people are saying you will need, go to SLO county and try to get a house in Creston. It has a pretty warm climate and the houses are much less expensive there. You will only be about 20 minutes out of town without having to pay an extra 100k-200k to have land in town.

Obviously the Sierra Foothills aren't near the ocean, but there are many large lakes from Shasta area to Fresno. Rural areas like this have 4H, FFA and probably meet your other requirements.
