Does the House GOP ever do anything with the intent of actually accomplishing something meaningful? I mean why not work on bills that arent dead on arrival. Wasting time and money on BS as usual. Its like their entire existence is just to drive a wedge between people.

Not that I oppose domestic oil exploration, because I fully support it-but why not push for somewhere more realistic? Like Alaska's ANWR area. I think that's the best place to push for.

The bill is not exclusive to California. The democrats won't allow drilling anywhere in the usa. Its not the conservatives who are dividing the country.

Doing the right thing is "dividing the country". I suppose the Republicans should "compromise" and "be more reasonable" in dealing with the enviromental screwballs in the Democrat party. How can you be reasonable with lunatics? Why should you compromise with those who have bad intent?

To heck with trying to get along. Is that what the Democrats did when they stuffed Obamacare down our throats? I say we toss the Marxist BO out of office in 2012 and then run the country the right way. Screw compromise.

In other words, you want us to exchange one extreme for another extreme. Yay!

That will solve everything. Im sure.

Think of all the taxes and permit fees California could collect from the oil companies for off shore drilling. That could go a long way in propping up this bankrupt state. Also, there would be jobs!

Well, I can understand this motivation. What about increasing production in Kern County?

1. Kern County oil production is booming.
2. There isn't enough oil in the US to lower the price of gas 10 cents a gallon if we pumped it all out.
3. More oil would be saved by painting every roof in America white, than exists off shore California.

4. there is another factor, the easy to get to oil in CA has been gotten, there is a problem with cost of production. In our area an oil company wants to drill some new wells. Petroleum engineers brought in for the EIR have stated that it will take more energy to recover the oil than will be gotten from the oil.

So, you ask, why does the company want to drill? We feel their intent is not to drill for oil, but to drill for investors. The company has been selling stock to mainland Chinese based on their prospectus..

Stuff like this is not unknown in the oil industry.

As the old saying could go, "beware of men carrying drilling equipment".
