Thanks for clarifying. I was thinking since there wouldn't be any rangers around I'd close-to-never get caught if it's a multi thousand acre park... but I did think about CHP or city/county officers driving by and spotting me by a random chance.

I guess I really just wanted to know the consequences and methods of enforcement - doesn't sound like a risk I'd take though because I don't have any history of such tickets or any type of arrest and I'd like to keep it that way

Agreed. If you have one, let's start with yours.

The closure of parks and beaches was never a significant cost savings ... it was intended as political punishment to the voters who Brown wanted to vote for more and higher taxes so he could continue his wreckless spending on political favors.

Say don that is great news, we can keep our parks and increased political spending. This is good, some of us will visit parks, and some of us will sit around and whine, a little something for everyone.

Weren't you the one who said that public land in CA would never be off limits to the public?

I think many are unaware that even if a gate booth is empty they should still pay the fee. Many of the parks have a day use fee just to park your vehicle.

Here are day use fees at all state parks, first alphabetical and the second link is geographic

Californians should check for their favorite state parks and ask if they have paid that fee. If not then maybe a donation to the State Parks Foundation is in order.

And if someone is a regular state park visitor they should simply buy an annual pass

We've known for years that the state budget was tight, don't add to the problem for the parks by not paying.
When I was at Palomar Mountain last year, the charge was 16 dollars, not 8. Wonder if it went back down.

What I wonder is if it were the same reasons when Arnold wanted to close 220 state parks.

It's funny that two years ago, we don't remember hearing the same reasons given isn't it?
