Morning!

My fiance and I are both recent college graduates and are looking to move
to the West
I'm lucky I was able to find someone that would equally like to relocate so far away, as
its somewhat culturally typical for native Georgians (or southeasteners) to want to
live in the same area they grew up.

alright so here is a little bit about ourselves and what we're looking for to better assist
you all in helping us make a decision.

She will be working as an RN.
One thing she really wants to do is go to grad school to be a Nurse Practioner, so a school offering this nearby is pretty important.

I majored in German and International Business.

Preferably we would like to be somewhat close to the coast, as I wanna pick up surfing ,
and I've just wanted to live near the coast my whole life.

Our current combined income is currently ~$80,000 here in Atlanta, so depending on how salries are compensated in relation to the higher cost of living in CA or OR, we would need to find housing accordingly.
We would prefer a residential/single family home.

We donn't plan on having any kids for at least another 5-10 years, so we're not necessarily worried about public schools.

I don't mind commuting up to an hour to work if that means we can have better housing/area.

thanks in advance for your help!

Got Jobs? If not find them first. Everything else follows after that.

The water is pretty darn cold to be surfing in Oregon.

California has colleges all up and down the coast. Your $80,000, should you make that in CA, will feel more like $50,000 due to the higher cost of living.

You should plan on living there a year before going to school to be a legal resident and save a lot of tuition cost. I'd suggest the state college system,
having gone to 3 of them myself. Find one with the program you need, then start looking for jobs in that area.

she has to work for a full year before she can begin her graduate program anyway,
so that wouldn't be a problem.

can you point us in the direction of some affordable areas somewhat close to the ocean?
As a nurse it should be relatively easy for her to find a job in most places.
I assume I will have to look near business "hubs" and their suburbs.
