Default relocating tricks?

To: 2kidsforme
Okay this time you almost made me cry!!
Anyhow, a Newcommers group, I have never heard of that before, what a terrific idea. When I started having children and became a "stay at home mom" (which is hardly an accurate discription, LOL) I joined the Parent Connection to meet other moms with infants and toddlers. And that help tremendously and helped my children to foster friendships as well. I had no idea that there were groups for Newcommers. Thanks for that advice, I know it would help alot to establish some friendship with people finding there way etc. Gee, I already feel like I have a new friend in MA. Thanks again!!

To: LoveBoating
Since you are in CO and moved to Parker one of the areas I am interested in, can you fill me in on why Parker? And since your screen name infers that you Love boating as does my husband, where might you recommend we look for boating, lake fun and a community near those types of things. He is most interested in the Loveland/FC area due to the many lakes available there.

To ALL:
I appreciate and value all of your input and ideas. Does anyone have anymore input on the tricks to relocating smoothly? LOL Maybe I'll put that in a new thread....to learn more about that....

Thanks!!

The one thing that I do to help finding a place to live is to imagine my 3 year son in that place at 16 years old. and Ca (at least southern Ca, can't speak for central or north) is not a place to raise children. The teenagers here are rude and disrespectful. and yes I know it doesn't matter where you live to raise your kids good but peer presure is thick here.
and in regards to leaving your family behind; I figure that I have had 30 years to spend with them and now I need to spend 30 years in a better place so that my son will become a better man. Plus we only live once, why not try some different scenery.

and yes please do-

Just to put it in perspective, we paid $700k (ouch!) for our house here in MA, but it is in an outstanding neighborhood. Top ranked schools, no crime to speak of, clean air & water, not much traffic, educated population etc... We have a 2800 sq ft house, full basement, with a big big yard that backs up to the woods. That being said...I still want to go home. Has CA changed that much in 7 years.? We aren't wealthy people. My husband makes a decent living but that may not be enough back in CA. I stay at home. Please, I need advice. Hubby and I are trying to decide what to do, either settle here for the long run, or go back before the kids start school. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Given the choice of boston or Orange County, I'd take any day.

How can you stand being near all those celtic fans anyway?

99% of those negative posts are written by people who not only don't live in the state but have never lived in the state and who have likely never even visited the state. They're just repeating partisan nonsense they hear on AM talk radio which isn't even remotely based on fact. The only people who are leaving the state are people who can't afford the high cost of houseing; of course the reason the housing costs so much is because the population keeps going up and there are tons of successful people with money who do want to live in a highly desirable place.

As incredible as this is going to sound, I just watched something positive on FOX news regarding California's hispanic businesses. It was just shocking! It was optimistic! Unbelievable!

Maybe the Season of Giving softened the heart of a program director over there at Fox. My guess is he or she might be out of a job soon and applying for work at MSNBC.
