Sorry, don't know how to correct mistakes in thread titles, I meant to say: CA UNEMPLOYMENT falls below 12% for the first time in 2 Years. LOL.
In any event, this is largely symbolic, and our labor market has been extremely unpredictable, but at very least our jobless rate is down half a percentage point from this time last year-which is a welcomed improvement.

Interesting because the number of people filing for unemployment insurance for the first time went up in April from March. The number of people filing for unemployment insurance is not a survey, it’s from records where the number of people employed, new jobs, is a survey. In a nutshell ... I don't trust the survey because it has been shown time and time again during this recession that the government is fudging the numbers and will quietly send out a correction weeks later when no one is paying attention.

yes, I heard that on the news just a few minutes ago: hope it continues in the downword direction. The only less than positive aspect: the woman the interviewed, Nancy somebody did say many of the jobs are temp jobs that hopefully will turn into full time jobs. She said some have already but not enough.

Doesn't really mean much until the numbers improve in the hardest hit areas. When the places that are above 15% get back to below 10%, then I'll say things have gotten better.
