When I drive I-5 just south of Patterson (Crow's Landing) I see very tall barbwire security fences covering a large area just west of the I-5. This seems to be a very secure place. What is this place? I found Crows Landing Facility (NASA) website which shows a facility (airport) on the east side of I-5 but I have a feeling something else is going on at the facility on the west side.

Just curious if anyone has better information.

There is a landfill (Finks landfill) just north of the facility I'm talking about which is not behind the 50 foot security fence. Looks like the NASA airport on the east side of I-5 is used for that facility.

Thanks!
So the 50 fence is for catching debris?

I lived in Merced in the early/mid 90s and I remember reading in the local paper they had to build it for some reason. Can't remember why though (senility I guess ).

I never thought I'd see a Crows Landing (my hometown) thread on city-data lol.

As for the NASA, super-secret comments, don't you see the huge grey building (covanta energy) behind the fence? Wish it was more exciting of an answer.

covanta energy is a cover for a super secret government operation. Most of the facility is underground and connects to the NASA air field as well as other facilities in the area. What they burn is the key to the operation and Finks landfill is just a cover operation to throw off the community and foreign operatives.

But you didn't here that from me ...
