Honest post.
I have lived in both areas over the years and; yes, I prefer the San Diego area overall-----------but, parts of the Bay Area are not bad either

Yes; I do think that the Wash DC area is a toxic waste dump..........but, if I ever post there or in the NoVa Form-----------I try to watch my manners. Does us all a favor and extend us that same respect.

You're right. Sorry. Most of what I said was meant in humor and laughter. Not in anger or to be mean. But you're right, I need to be more respectful. Apologies to stan.
Look, cali is my original home. I like cali. It's so much better than so many other places - it's so much better than Phoenix for example. You used to live in DC 30 or 40 years ago and you keep hanging out in the DC forums still. And you despise DC. But I don't dispise cali. I like it and sometimes love it, but it has its share of problems just like other places. And I like to point those problems to people and to Californians who think cali is the best place on earth while they have never been outside of cali (like a lot of people from SF bay).

Apology accepted.
I too can be bombastic as you well know
Re: the Wash DC area...........my #1 complaint by far against it are the miserable winters; had they been more, say, like even North Carolina, I may have never left the DC area. I probably would have wound up somewhere between Woodbridge and Fredericksburg. It was that much more laid back ca. 1975-78.

If you don't like winter weather then you will not like the DC area in the winter. Of course the DC area has its other problems too.
Not sure when the last time you were in Fredericksburg, but if you haven't seen it in a while, you won't even recognize it. It's blown up astronomically in size and continues to do so. I think next year it will have the largest indoor water park resort in America. It should be a nice place to escape the winter cold.

LOL to DC area being laid back! They are the most rude arrogant so and so's! And I'm from DC, would not recommend anybody to DC unless they are single and like crappy weather... I don't blame the OP for wanting to move to CA. Sometimes people want a change of pace, scenery. I am sure there is somewhere in CA where he could have somewhat the same quality of life. And to the poster who called him "selfish", oh please. It's not like he wants to move his family to Compton, give me a break. Different strokes for different folks...
