Default Nightlife-San Jose vs. San Fancisco

Hi all!

If you could move to either city, San Jose or San Francisco, based purely on the night life for a 21 year old (I'll be 22 when I move) male, where would you move?

I've already considered a lot of other stuff, right now I'm just trying to ignore all the other variables so I can properly answer this question. Ignoring money, jobs, blah blah blah, just considering the night life, which is a better location and where specifically in the city? Basically what area has the best clubs, best places to meet people, hang out, etc.

Also, just in general where is a good location in SJ and in SF for night life?

And not regarding night life, where do I not want to move because it might be a scummy neighborhood, high crime rate, etc.?

Again, no need to say "well you should consider more than just night life." Trust me, I am. Just trying to get a solid answer for this.

Thanks!

Edit: If one of the local areas like Hayward or San Mateo are for whatever reason better then please talk about those also!

The answer to your questions is probably SF.

SJ has lackluster nightlife in comparison to SF. Plus a surplus of dudes. SF on the other hand has a surplus of young, single, straight women. Its almost a no-brainer if you've grown up here and familiar with the area.

In terms of the surrounding areas theres really no nightlife of any serious note. Maybe in Palo Alto and Walnut Creek/Pleasanton. You could check out Berkeley even. Its got some cool spots. But not much else in the area worth doing. The Bay Area is no LA when it comes to nightlife, but its decent in SF.

Agree w/ Bay Dude... For night life, weekend life, and even evening life SJ doesn't even compare to SF. I live in Mountain view but would drive out to SF all the time when I wanted to have a good time. If you get a chance, hit up Infusion Lounge :

Strict guy/girl ratio enforcement and don't get there after 11:00.
*cheers

SF, Oakland, and Berkeley are all infinitely better than San Jose for nightlife.

Sounds like I want to move to SF! And that Infusion Lounge looks super awesome!

If you don't mind, what are a couple other good clubs in the area to check out and what's the dress attire like?

Anyone have an opinion on Treasure Island? Since we've established that SF is the place to be as far as night life goes I need to find an area or place that's moderately priced. It seems like Treasure Island is less ridiculous than the rest of SF. Do they have any night life or is it best to drive into SF main for the clubs?

Thanks a lot!

Treasure Island is a decommissioned military base and redevelopment zone. It isn't best to drive anywhere in SF.

SF has the scene, but Sj has the down to earth people.

Um, yeah, you and about a million other people. The cheapest you'll probably get is a roommate situation where you pay $600 a month in rent...and I might be too low with that $600 estimate.

I'm aware. I've been looking on Craigslist and a couple other sites a lot lately. Seems like I might be able to find myself a suite for around 1,000. I have had roommates all through college and I have two now. And, well, I'll go insane if I have another one. So even if the place is kind of a dump I'd rather have my own!
