Just got the letter in my email from the Board of Equalization. The 1% state sales tax hike approved by the Governor expires next month. Should be a good month for auto dealers..

I had assumed that it would just stay in place, despite the expiration. Is this not correct?

It expires, along with the car registration hike, on 7/1. They'd have to pass a new law to extend it.

It is likely a decision will come down before July 1st about the tax increases that have occurred. The clowns in office will have their pay docked starting June 15th w/ no chance of back pay until they pass a balanced budget. This will likely get them going ... As far as car-registration fees.. you will not you aren't getting renewal notices for the ones that fall in that expiration time period.. It's because they are holding them back until a decision is made. I've sadly had enough though.. As I mentioned on another thread, I've decided to leave Calif. by September of next year for lower cost of living/tax pastures. I'll be following the happenings though.. I am quite interested on watch shapes out. Markets are rolling over as expected, employment taking another hit, and case shillers home index pointing to the reality that home prices have yet more to fall before hitting a reasonable floor ... We'll see what this does to the "extra' money they found laying around. I definitely know of a couple of people's options who have retraced into the red due the latest market action.

I was wondering why I had not received the renewal notice for one of my vehicles with a renewal at the end of July. Sonsabastiges.
