To those of us who live here it is referred to as the Central Coast and is considered central CA.

Born and raised in SLO. Always heard it referred to as being on the Central Coast. When I was growing up we never used the terms NorCal or SoCal. There was more reference to SF or LA, rather than southern California or northern California.

SoCal. You guys get Dodgers games on your tv, not Giants games.

Probably not, us locals bristle at the idea of being associated with SoCal, and we are a long way from North Cal.

This area historically was known as the cow counties due to the large ranches. For much of the history of the Central Coast cows outnumbered people. A different culture than the beach/suburb/desert culture of the Southland, and a different culture than the logging/mining culture of the Northland.
