Now Captain, your memory is playing tricks on you. Pozo is not on 58. If you leave 58 at La Panza you can take the La Panza - Pozo Road which is mostly dirt to Pozo, but 58 winds around to the north of the Great Golf Ball on Black Mountain.

A few weeks ago I was on 58, coming out of McKittrick to California Valley on my dualsport moto. I was feeling good, laying the bike over good, even scraped foot pegs a little on those great tight turns (I had not done that in 30 years). But, it is a dualsport and won't handle like a road bike, some guy blew by me on a crotch rocket, I don't know if he was having more fun, but he was sure moving fast.

58 seems to be in the books for fast motos, there are a lot of them on any given weekend.

58 is a pretty cool road, from the oak and grass of Santa Margarita, a fine high speed twisty, then into the flat plains of Carrizo, then up and over the Temblor and through the nothing town of McKittrick (great restaurant though, burgers and steaks, (The Penny Bar, a million pennies glued to everything is sight), then off to the ag lands of the San Joaquin, I like to stop at one of the Mexican "roach coaches" and get a pork sandwich, then into the vast desolation of Bakersfield. Then up the side of the Sierra Nevada to Tehachapi, across the Pacific Crest, then down into the desert and the delightful (joke there) town of Mojave, then you get to streak out across a fine desert to Barstow, which must be the world's capital of something,,, just dunno what

As youre coming thru California Valley on 58 there is that mile long stretch of road that is swale after swale after swale. Me and my Mitsubishi Eclipse LOVED getting air coming thru there! And yes. I know that if you are west bound you have to hang a left for a few miles to get to POZO!

Yep, Willie Nelson was at Pozo last weekend, I don't do crowds, drunks, and hot sun all together, so I did not go out to see him.

Drunk girls in bikinis. Willies music and the scent of Humboldt Countys finest! Sounds like I might have at least tried to make it!

Seems logical Willie would play Humboldt at least a few times a year. He has to build his stash back up after a month or two on the road!
