On the 41 route just be sure to close your eyes during the last couple of miles.

Stop off in Strawberry or Dardanelle & do a little fishin' in the Stanislaus River.

There is a short rock wall along the road almost the entire stretch from El Portal to Yosemite Valley so you would really have to try hard to get your car launched over the cliff. I worked in Yosemite while in college and I despised Hwy 41.

Still, if cliffs freak you out .highnlite gave you the best advice.
Hwy 140 is the best, most direct route into the Valley. It's also the lowest elevation with the least amount of climbing and descending, twisting and turning through the mountains. In the Winter it's sometimes the only road that is open. Hwy 41 is way longer, but of course more scenic. It's similar to driving into Kings Canyon from the Three River South Entrance vs. Grant Grove = much longer and windy drive overall. But the scenery is nice.

If your not driving get blitzed. I have several family members who do this to get on a plane for our once a year family Vegas trip.

Hell I do it just because I'm so happy to be going to Vegas.

Or take a "chill" pill and enjoy the ride.

Just don't drink a six pack or eat a huge meal beforehand, or it may end up all over you and your wedding party friends.

Just take 140 from Merced & into Mariposa, then into the park it is a fairly easy & not too scary way, most mellow way in. The other 2 entrances are much steeper & scarier, but the views are amazing!
