Internet sales tax: Online retailers to start collecting sales taxes in California - latimes.com

Many of about 25,000 affiliates in California, especially larger ones with dozens of employees, are likely to leave the state, said Rebecca Madigan, executive director of trade group Performance Marketing Assn. The affiliates combined paid $152 million in state income taxes last year, she pointed out.

One affiliate, Ken Rockwell of San Diego, the owner of a 12-year-old photography website, said he planned to move out of state.

"Will it be Las Vegas or Scottsdale or Ensenada?" he said. "It's a question of where, not if."

LMFAO .. looks like i they are going to be loosing $100s of millions as a result .. Nice going Cali ! I'm sure amazon is working on those nice termination letters as we speak .. As for the idiotic comment of why online retailers get a 10% discount .. Hint : They don't use state resources like the B&M stores do ...

UPS/Fedex might in shipping the product and guess what .. tax is excised on them and the shipping transaction.
But o'well.. California's loss .. is are many things these days.

Why? So you can pay more for everything at Best Buy?

Because they cancelled my affiliate account and for no good reason.

They canceled your affiliate account because your state government is trying to use it to illegally tax interstate commerce. They've done this in other states. As a consumer, Amazon is still a better deal than nearly any local store.

Man, I wish I had bought them back some months ago .. their stock has seen some pretty substantial gains .. O'well, opportunities were a plenty.

Earlier, when I said that being too liberal or too conservative were bad things, this thread is proof of that. What I meant was, it's ok if you're one or the other. This country needs both. The problems are those who cannot for the life of them even listen to the other side at all.

This thread, with few exceptions has descended into childish back and forth silliness. This is quite likely what happens in our government, state and federal. Little wonder our elected leaders behave this way when these are the people voting for them.

Even though I lost my affiliate account I just renewed my Prime membership. I'm going with the companies who give a frack about the consumers and free trade.

California is sinking because there's a bunch of cabin boys trying the steer the ship. You'd think Brown would have learned something over the last 35 years since his disasterous Governorship. Apparently this is just his second shot at the same failure x100...

As I said before, I, my family and my business will be looking for a move to calmer waters. I'm not willing to wait for the mad max scenario this state is about go through.

I used to be able to talk to Libs, but I've found that the bulk of them had become intolerant of any conservative viewpoints. Take it from one who was born and raised in Los Angeles. I was fairly liberal when I was a young surfer here in Hermosa Beach, then I had a family and wised up. I had too.

I lived through the Watts riots as a child living in South Gate, and I was driving Florence Ave on the day the King riots broke out. I've had my pool empty from earthquakes several times. I shot images of the station fire on one side and Palos Verdes fire from my roof on the same night. I've never seen or felt anything like the cancer that's permeating this state and people, for that matter.

I never hear conservatives spew the hate speak like I hear from liberals, personally that is. Consider that conservatives are the ones most likely to be armed. Libs must feel pretty confident in the rights ability to turn the other cheek, when they get in their face. I'm not saying there aren't decent liberals. The problem is exactly the same as the Muslims, who won't stand up against extremists out of fear. Good liberals are liberal by nature, not thumping ideologues with hate driving their enthusiasm. Extremists are the minority yet they make the loudest noise, using it to scare the majority into submission. Look at the threads in CD as an example. Extremists have the biggest mouths and the least sense, with every word typed, they give themselves away. Both sides are to blame for this condition. See first response in this post as an example.
