Me.

We were a SavOn family though. Nickel a scoop.

Yes but I can't remember now where you got them.

Lots of memories.

Any newcomers? Have you discovered this treasure? When I lived in California I frequently took home a few half-gallons. (I know, now it's 1.75 quarts.)

I'd like to see Thrifty expand beyond California - maybe all up the West Coast (especially because I'll be moving to Washington).

We used to ride out bikes to the Thrifty on Fair Oaks and Mission in South Pasadena. I think the nickel price remained through the late 1960's.

My aunt was an ice cream fanatic and would talk about the quality and taste of the ice cream at Thrifty. When she and my uncle moved out of California for a few years, she often reminded us of how lucky we were.

Chocolate malted crunch....I have to go grab some of that tonight. They are often out of that one though!! I've bonded with many people from up and down the state over that ice cream with the "award winning taste"

If they ever make a sugar-free version with Splenda, I'll give it a try. There's a Rite Aid next town over.

That's my favorite Thrifty ice cream flavor! With summer in full swing, I'm sure I'll be stopping by my local Rite Aid soon to pick up a carton or two (preferably when they're on sale).

I didn't know you could still get Thrifty's ice cream. I've never been in a Rite Aid that had an ice cream stand.

I vaguely recall the price raise from 5¢ to 10¢. It was 10¢ for most of my childhood as I recall. I mostly remember wanting ice cream but my mom saying no. Made getting a cylinder of chocolate chip that much more special.

Every Thrifty's I went in had a noisy water fountain next to the ice cream that put out a dribble of near freezing water. Now that was really refreshing on a hot summer day.
