Default Reno to Lake Tahoe Commute????

What would my commute be like if I took a Job in North Lake Tahoe. The only real estate it seems that I could afford around there would be Reno which appears to be about an hour away. Is that commute even possible? Im thinking it would not be too bad, am I nuts?

Believe it or not, I knew someone who did it... except they lived in Tahoe and worked in Reno. It's pretty long, but I'm sure plenty of LA people make even longer ones. A family friend actually lived in Colfax, and worked in the bay area... the time issue's pretty plain and simple as to weather you mind the drive twice a day... a least it's a pretty drive! The only issue I see is to look into closely is the winter weather that make 80 pretty terrible when a big snowstorm hits, especially towards the summit... Most (if not all) frequent Tahoe vacationers have at least one story of it taking 5 hours to get over the mountain after a storm. Granted, the part between Donner Summit and Reno is much easier grade-wise than the Sacramento-Donner side is, so you'll be driving the "better half" when it comes to that... still something to look into very closely.

People do it. You can live in NW Reno and take the 80, or in SW Reno and take Mt. Rose Hwy. Friends of mine live in Arrowcreek and we drove together to North Tahoe in about 20 minutes - not in rush hour though. Better have a 4W drive for the winter snow.

My favorite roulette dealer lives in Reno and works at Harrah's in South Lake Tahoe. It's doable but only you can answer if you want to.

You can always stay at a hotel where you work if it's to bad. Hopefully your employer will understand if you can't make it to work on a bad weather day.
