On Thursday 1000 nurses held a protest rally in front of Whitman's home in Atherton, a wealthy Bay Area suburb. The nurses confronted Whitman's attack on their union and her refusal to debate Jerry Brown on health issues. The demonstration was quite a spectacle that included a horse-drawn carriage and actresses dressed as queens mocking "Queen Meg."

Whitman's spokes person called it "political theater" accusing the nurses of taking sick leave and spending union money on a "stunt" to embarrass the Republican candidate for governor.

All I see are a bunch of union thugs who think they should be insulated from the state's and world's economic problems. See also: prison guards union, state employees union, public school teachers union, etc.

Those were nurses not thugs, quite the opposite treatment.
What is it with people wanting others to make less than a working wage?
You might want to get educated on unions before making the odd statement.

Those nurses aren't in a union doing Jerry's dirty work? Did you read even the 1st two paragraphs of the story? Unions are a huge part of what's killing this state. Take! Take! Take! More! More! More!

Well, Moonbeam told his Union compadres to go into attack mode several months ago, and now there are. So I'm sure we will see many more of this type of theatre as we get closer to November. This is what they do best.

Actually the nurses have been following and mocking Whitman well before the campaign and even when she was in the primary. The nurses in particular don't seem to like Whitman and make that abundantly clear. But I like this kind of stuff. It's funny and lively unlike the governors race. I think Jerry Brown has fallen asleep somewhere and all Whitman does is run her endless commercials over and over again! Enough already. Where are the debates?

Good . Queen Whitman needs to get a taste of what it is like to be Governor. She has been in the corporate world too long-that is just like being the leader of North Korea. Don't like your deputy-chop his head off. Wan't a bigger bonus-fire your entire workforce, shift them to another country and get a bigger bonus from the savings. Nobody dare questions you.

Governor is whole another ball game. You can't fire your electorate. They have the power to recall you. You don't just sit in your ivory tower and spin off stupid policies as the next biggest leap of mankind. It ain't easy being in this position.

If I am not mistaken-the vast majority of nurses are in the private sector??? Not sure why the union angle is as important. It would be if it were public sector employees, like teachers or police or some such-but not nurses?
