You realize PERS is a private corporation? It is NOT run by the state?

But lamentably, the Legislature has pretty much taken over running it by loading the board.

I know that but you still have to look to the board.

I am a lowly police officer and I mkae 150K a year and I live in a million dollar home. I have NO COLLEGE education either. And? So what of it? I've been shot, thrown out of second story windows, attacked with knives, baseball bats, boards, spit on, exposed to AIDS/HIV, Hep C, and every single other disease you could think of.

I spent the first 8 yrs of my career working midnights. Christmas, 4th of July, and every other holiday. Missed kids birthdays, graduations, et al.

And yes, before you say it: I knew that going in. I also knew the pay and benefits going, which is why I did it. YOU had a chance to do it also and chose another path. Now that YOUR path sucks, you blame everyone else, who took the right path. That is on YOU.

You want people to come save you and pay NOTHING for it. You want state services, city services, and pay nothing for it. You rally against "unions" and not taking pay/benefit/pension cuts. Now that they do, its "not enough."

Its only outrageous, because YOU aren't making that kind of money and getting those types of benefits. And as another poster said: I'll bet that "firefighter" is a Battalion Chief or higher. And/or works a TON of overtime; just like I do. I work approximately 70 hours a week to make the money I do and live the lifestyle I do.

And, I don't despise ANYONE who makes more money then I do. More power to them. IF you can make it, I say make it.

And no, I am not a greedy union member. As I wrote, I agreed to take a 24% pay cut, so 24 police officers wouldn't lose their jobs AND still provide for the community. Yet, we were all screwed over, by a lying corrupt city.

There are always things you don't know, see, or even realize.
Yes, because I'm a tax payer and being a tax payer I have a right to voice my opinion on how my tax money is spent and I will continue to complain no matter how many false accusations you make of me. You have no clue what I do or how much I make ... because I'm not a public servant. Like I said before, its not the public employee that I'm complaining about, its the corrupt system. Its also not just me, there is a growing number of taxpayers and politicians that are working to correct this corrupt system. It will get fixed ... it has too because obviously the funds are not there to pay for it.

Go out to Lake Havasu, Lake Tahoe, Lake Berryessa. All those guys with Rv's, boats, jet ski's, and all the other toys are cops and firemen.
