So it won't be for a couple years until I make the move to California. I know this sounds stupid saying that I want to move to a place I've never been to before, but it's who I am I guess. I'm going to have a lot of criteria when it comes to the city I'll be living in. But I need guidance. First of all, the most important aspect for me. Dry weather. I don't need to live in the desert, but i hate humidity. Second I want it to be rather safe, I plan on having children. And on that note, I also want to live in a fairly small town. Something under 150k, preferably 60-80k. And something pretty important to me is a reasonably priced home. I don't want to live in the ghetto, but i cant afford to live like a rockstar. Oh, I'm not big on diversity. Please anyone, just give me some guidance.

Next you'll say you need a city with high paying jobs. California is probably the most diverse state in the country so good luck avoiding that. Humidity isn't a problem compared to the vast majority of the country.

There is now way you will find anything that meets your requirements on the 60-80K range. At $150K you will be living in very low income, crime ridden areas. It's expensive to live here.

I thought those numbers were city size, not housing cost.

Yeah, definitely those were population figures, not money amounts.

As far as population, crime numbers and cost of a house...anything that you learn now won't do you any good in two years. Ask again a few months before you are ready.

As far as not humid, the whole state is not humid as long as you aren't within 30 miles of the coast.

Coastal counties will be spendy so you'll want to be inland anyway.

Would an even mix of whites and hispanics count as not diverse if they're the only two groups? Most towns in this state that aren't rockstar worthy will have a hispanic population. After all, half the towns have Spanish names, they didn't get them from all the northern Europeans that moved here.

At 69% Hispanic/Latino, ONT fits the bill for not being diverse.... but I'm pretty sure that's not the OP's description of diverse.
