Now if you want to talk about those receiving UI benefits...do you really believe that people on unemployment are greatly contributing to the tax structure?
You did not talk percentages, you said they did not pay taxes, which, they most assuredly do, the same taxes you and I pay.

As for the rest of your post, a tiny percentage may have gamed the system, but not many. You seem to have anger toward people not as fortunate as you,, which is odd.

America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within
Don, with all due respect, anyone who posts this sort of stuff is completely bonkers. To equate an American Liberal with a totalitarian dictator who killed more of his own people than Hitler did, beggars belief, staggers the mind.

Particularly when it is obvious to any rational analysis that Liberals have given everything we consider good about America, to America.

Totalitarianism (or totalitarian rule) is a political system where the state recognizes no limits to its authority and strives to regulate every aspect of public and private life wherever feasible. Totalitarian regimes stay in political power through an all-encompassing propaganda disseminated through the state-controlled mass media, a single party that is often marked by personality cultism, control over the economy, regulation and restriction of speech, mass surveillance, and widespread use of terror.

Yep ... you got it

BS! I help everyone that is less fortunate then me. My what you call anger is about the idiot voters in California. The waste of the money in this state on not only welfare and disability scammers but a lot of other things. The fact the California has too much govt that can't even manage these systems properly. That is what I am mad about.

In terms of Casinos, that is an undesirable side-effect of moving to an ATM system for state benefits. Still, its a very small fraction of total benefits and its something the state should do something about it. You realize, that this information is coming from the state right?

But this is typical, people point out abuse that amounts to very little of total welfare dollars spent and use it to try to, well I'm not sure, what exactly is your point? Welfare shouldn't exist because a small percentage of folks abuse the system?

I'm not too sure why the article finds it so surprising that welfare money is being spent in Hawaii, etc. People have friends and family and its having a family member pay for a trip isn't all that uncommon. When you're an adult, welfare isn't based on the income of your family members or your friends.

Yeah, that's realistic, poor uneducated people are going to stop having sex and instead focus on getting an education, of course this requires that they first understand the value of an education, where to get a good education, etc.

I hope the weather is nice in that Ivory Tower.
You are such an ignorant typical Californian cheerleader.

I don't know where to start with all of your BS assumptions.

First of all they money being used to party and gamble in casinos is despicable. California shells out a hell of a lot in welfare...this is the welfare capital of the US right. If you think that is ok then you are just beyond reasoning with. You make excuses for them spending that money to gamble how pathetic. That is not what welfare is about is it? I like to see the part of my money that is contributed going for good causes not being wasted and abused. The state should do something about it especially with all the big govt this state has.

If you have a system with this much abuse and poor managment then I would say that the system should be shut down until it can manage itself better. Many hand out programs in this state need to be overhauled...so what do we do just stand here and let it continue until it is hopefully fixed some day or do something radical to get everyones attention.

Having sex is no problem...having sex responsibly is what I am talking about. As much money as this state hands out you would think they could stand stronger on helping the poor uneducated to have sex responsibly. This state rewards those who are poor and uneducated for having a baby...that is no way to really help them now is it!

You don't get that rewarding people for bad behaviors leads to more of the same bad behavior? What a horrible vicious cycle!

Another clue is that it shows Illinois as less corrupt and we all know that's not true.

One other interesting point. The map says "public corruption convictions per 100,000 residence" ... How many people are in North Dakota ... under 700K ... compare that to California ... over 37 million ... Illinois ... over 12 million ... poleeze ... give me a break!
You must be seeing something in that map that I don't. It does have northern states listed. If you mouse over the individual state it shows the number of convictions per 100K - that levels the field when comparing more populated states with less. Illinois is shown as being worse than many Southern states (such as Texas, Georgia and the Carolinas). So are New York, Pennsylvania and Hawaii - all traditional blue states. I don't know how you can take issue with stats taken from the Justice Dept. and the Census Bureau regardless what you may think of USA Today. Again, California, using those non-partisan statistics, isn't nearly as corrupt as many other states.

highnlite, just want to bring up one point that you refer to a lot, that conservatives live in fear. I have never lived in fear of anything in my life...except maybe flying. All those thing you mentioned, mexicans, mulims and environmentalists, etc, have never even been on my radar. Maybe I'm different? I just see nothing to fear from them or anything else. The world is what it is, and as you said in another post (I'm paraphrasing because I don't know the exact thread) conservatives live in fear and that's a pitiable thing. I agree that it would be, but I don't see it.

Other than that I appreciate your level-headed arguments/statements. Many of the liberals who have decided to confront me get waaaay too emotional, loud and weepy. Easier to have a conversation that way

And I agree, Bud lite sucks

Go back re-read what I said...I know what I said.

You can justify all you want but the bottom line is the people making the money in this state pay the taxes. Not the unemployed without benefits. They are not paying the taxes that I pay out of my paycheck. Do you get it now.
And those who are on unemployment benefits only pay federal taxs not CA state income taxes.

Talk about grasping at straws!

Tell me, how does welfare abuse in California compare to other states? Can you give me the precise numbers? You know, instead of just yapping?

Both welfare and disability are federal programs, I'm not sure why you think they are isolated to California. The ATM issue you posted about previously effects almost all states, they have all moved to a system that uses ATM networks to distribute funds.
