Today, the California State Building and Construction Trades Council released shocking news: according to a new report, Sempra Energy's proposal to build a cross-border transmission line between California and Mexico to outsource green energy production would place as many as 15,000 U.S. jobs at risk with California hardest hit! 90% of those direct job losses would happen right here in Imperial County which had the highest unemployment rate in the nation in April at a staggering 27.9%.

Sempra's proposal to offshore green jobs and outsource energy is the wrong direction at a time when we need to create green jobs here in California and put people back to work!

Unions are welfare queens in drag

Suspect non-union workers in places like TX have different view on own free choices than union workers of NYC/NJ/CA/IL, etc

Suspect co.'s shareholders prefer co. to do whatever makes business sense

Any worker of co. freely chooses to work at co.; if worker has superior skills and feels underpaid, work somewhere else

And anyone with a 3-digit IQ in SiliconValley knows the green/clean jobs crap is a mockable sham that makes no economic sense...if anything needs taxpayer subsidies/bailouts, it's just corporate welfare for VCs (who fly gas-guzzling G550s, own multiple 10K sf houses and drive Mercedes V12s) that makes no business sense to an innocent taxpayer who foots bill for this commie nonsense

This is about the most ignorant rant I've read on city-data.

So called Green Jobs were supposed to replace all the jobs that I and others have been moving out of CA for a few years (and for any who don't understand the reasons we've been moving them out, I feel truly sorry for you). But even this scam won't do the trick.

RUST BELT II, baby!

As long as California punishes companies for trying to stay in business, they'll have a strong incentive to move out of state.

Oh, but stem cell boondoggling orgs in Mission Bay, $60K electric cars, marketed by Californians/made in China photovoltaics, and, garbage sorting facilities staffed by illegals, will replace all those nasty factory jobs, non R&D/non marketing jobs, etc that are gone. /sarc
