My state, Virginia, just announced a $300 million budget surplus due to higher than expected income tax receipts, largely from US government workers. Just shutup, get to work, and pay your Federal taxes so we can keep the party going back here.

Just wait until austerity measures translate into severe cuts to the Federal Budget and you'll see the unemployment rate skyrocket in the DC metro area.

Bank interest is still crap. Gold is too expensive. Real estate is too scary for many and locally, still too expensive. After you build a stock portfolio of undervalued securities, what is left?

Naturally, start ups.

There was a news report about whats going on in silicon valley. There is some hiring going on. They are seeking highly educated and highly skilled people to work in the high-tech sector.
