My husband and I are considering moving from MN to CA next year. We are looking on the east side of the state, somewhere between Grass Valley and Sonora.
What are the safer towns and which towns offer the most employment near these areas?
We would be looking at facilities/building maintenance and administrative type positions. Also, any idea what the average pay is for these type of jobs?
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

You are speaking of Highway 49, The towns are small historical gold rush towns, they are safe, as are most towns, employment is mostly tourist service. Most people who live in this area are very happy people, it is an interesting area to live in, quite hot in the summer, but without humidity. And in the winter, above the fog and below the snow.

Technically if you are talking about the East side of the state you are talking about land east of the Sierra Crest, along highway 395.

If you're looking for work the best towns are those that are bedroom communities for Sacramento - like Auburn and Placerville.

Thank you, that's kind of what I was thinking already, so that is a good sign!
