Ok, now that Arnold is gone I'm curious. Did Ca. voters elect him simply for his celebrity ? Was he good or bad for California ? Was anybody shocked that he fathered a child with someone other than Maria ?
If he were to run again, would anybody vote for him ?

I know, many questions here. Please don't feel that one single person has to answer them all. If enough people post their views, I'm sure all questions will get answered.

I think he was seen as the anti-Davis. Add the star power and you had a disaster in the making.

Of course he got elected because of his celebrity...what was on his resume that would lead anyone to think that he could lead one of the most volatile states that has to dig out of so many holes in one of the most important countries in the world??

You know, I dont even think he would have done horribly if he had just had to maintain, as Jesse Ventura did in MN. He had a good economy and a budget to work with up there, so it didnt go too bad. Having to start with so many issues as Arnold did in CA, there was no hope.

I disagree. WELL before Arnold was a celebrity, he was a millionaire through real estate investments. At one time or another, Arnold owned most of Santa Monica. He also has a bachelor's degree in business and economics.

Like it or not, Arnold was more then qualified for the position. Alot more qualified then many who have gotten it before him.

Maybe, but I'm pretty sure the majority of the voters didnt take into account how much property he owned or the fact that he is one of millions with a Bachelors degree.

I dont see how those two things even make you qualified to run the state of California. Try and bring that crap into an interview for any fortune 500 company and they will spit in your face, politics has and will likely always be a popularity contest. The state is in dire need of someone with more than just investment savvy and a Bachelors.

First, your last question was a no brainer: of course some would vote for him. I don't care who runs, it could be any of us and someone would vote for us..Would he win? Not likely. Surprised is fathered a child? Probably, it seems if you are a responsible adult you would be using protection..Talk about either stupid or arrogant: that would be how I see him. Was he elected cause of being a celebrity? Sure, it had something to do with it: I think we call it name recognition....

certainly as qualified as Moonbeam was the first time he ran. But I don't think you asked if Arnold was qualified, I thought you asked if he got elected because of being a celebrity..I guess I am confused.

That question was in response to a post from Phil306 and I was going for a little humor. Sorry for the confusion. I guess I'm not ready for Leno yet.
