Hmmm this post made me revisit that statement. Depending upon the survey, either Oregon was pretty good to not so good (http://www.sbecouncil.org/businesstaxindex2010/ - broken link), but all rankings put them above California. This site compared all the states in the west coast, but was originally about Washington state.

So I guess I owe Oregon an apology! Sorry about that... Still stand by my statements about California.

Oh the irony of something called "SOLARworld" leaving for a place that has... well.. very little Solar. lol. Unless they're going to the East side of the mountains, or perhaps down near Medford, they'll be missing the Solar.

Frankly, Oregon is not a particularly great biz climate, but better than California in fees, etc. Most municipalities there have nice incentives.

But the PNW is not for everyone.. if they take any people with them, I predict half will move back to California eventually. They usually do.

The solar industry in CA is going down the tubes. So much for those "green jobs". What the real kicker is they are moving to Oregon, of all places! Oregon is more business friendly than California??!?!?!?!

I don't know about anybody else, but from my perspective, the manufacturing in my area is leaving CA in droves. Lots and lots of empty building and parking areas where businesses once were.

More and more tax generators are leaving while the *******s say "dont let the door hits them in the butt." and leave behind all the tax takers CA better do something soon or else we'll come to a point where all those retired teachers, firemen, and police will be looking in their mailbox for the check that will never come. And when that happens,

CA will be the next Greece...

Too funny. Move a solar-based business somewhere the sun only shines fitfully between overcast and rain storms!

It really says something about California as a business-friendly climate.

How do you spell "economic suicide"?

And yet a higher percentage of Oregonians have photovoltaic collectors on their roofs than do Californians. Simply having a sunny climate doesn't make you an advocate of solar energy.

No, but it doesn't hurt either.

The Oregonians with the collectors are probably ex-pat, displaced, housing market price ruining Californians anyway!
