This is a typical, end-of-session gut-and-amend bill which is a way to make a complete end-run around the legislative system. It can pass with virtually no hearings, no public notice in advance and little public input because the bill has already been through committee hearings in its original form which had nothing to do with the current subject matter.

Capitol Alert: Democrats push bill to unionize home child care providers

The bill will decidedly be costly with new administration and oversight and when did a unionized anything become cheaper than what went before it? Obviously the legislative leadership, Perez and Steinberg, couldn't care less ab out how your taxes are spent, how much more this will cost both in taxes and resulting rates or the fact that the state is broke.

One more example of your tax dollars hard at work!

Yeah. Can't help it. Spend as many years in the political arena as my wife and I both did (a combined 38 years) and your gorge rises because you have to learn real-politik. It's not pretty.

With five children and six grandchildren between us still in the state, we continue to follow issues that may affect them; especially in a negative way. Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer positives and viable options with each passing year.

Home childcare has gotten too expensive, anyway. My neighbor down the street, who babysits several, manages to keep their lives rewarded with home additions and a big ol' RV. Good for them. But a few professionals at the office I work at decided to chuck the childcare situation when they had their 2nd or 3rd babies because "it wasn't worth it."

I don't think Ms. Shriver would come cheap!

You benefited from having a union during your employment for the State, yet you want to deny the people who do MUCH MORE IMPORTANT WORK the benefits of unionization. It takes all kinds...

Oh yeah, nothing like hiking up daycare costs for parents and taxpayers. Remove the taxpayers out of the equation, and let the parents fund it all.

I was in supervision and management for most of it. Study up or, now don't be shocked, ask. We had better and more consistent raises when DPA was in charge than anytime under the unions with few exceptions.

You're right, it takes all kinds, including the ignorant.
