Funny and fitting for this thread I think.

That's great!
I'm surprised it showed up on the survey ... and before the collection plate!

California Medical Assn. calls for legalization of marijuana

The doctor group questions the medical value of pot and acknowledges some health risk from its use but urges it be regulated like alcohol. A law enforcement official harshly criticizes the new stance.

This is really funny, a joint beat out the collection plate .

Feds shouldn't shut down pot dispensaries, but oh well.

Which shows just how much society has decayed. Yeah, real "funny."

IMHO, this amounts to the feds being consistent. Either you support both AZ and CA on these issues, or you support the feds. You can't support subverting federal law, or taking it into your own hands, only when it supports your position.

There is a good debate going on in this country as to states' rights. Unfortunately, it's mostly a hypocritical debate. People are trying to have it both ways. For example, someone might take a position that CA has every right to enact medical pot laws, but VA is wrong to sue the government over healthcare reform. If you believe in states' rights, you have to believe in them regardless of the particular issue. The same applies to those who support a stronger federal government.
Your comparisons are spot on

When are the Feds consistent about anything?

He knows liberal Californians will vote for him no matter what.

The answer to your question is yes. But those who are predisposed are especially susceptible. I've seen it in patients with no known history of mental illness and those with family history full of mental illness. Most of the cases are short-term. Others can become long-term:

Teens who smoke pot at risk for later schizophrenia, psychosis - Harvard Health Publications

Cannabis use precedes the onset of psychotic symptoms in young people, study finds

More Evidence Of Cannabis-induced Psychosis

Schizophrenia is not as heritable of illness as many mental health illnesses, at least not to the degree of depression and bipolar disorder, are, though there is some genetic linkage. But as for drug-induced psychoses, I've seen them frequenty. I suspect the data will begin to amass in this field over time.
