They are illegal. Even if Brown has chosen to give them free taxpayer provided college educations, they have no right to work in this country, they have no right to take those good paying jobs Americans will do.

I read through a number of your posts. They are so sad and angry, tell you what, buy a fishing pole, go fishing. It will do wonders for your state of mind.

You, like Yeahthatguy could be given a glass of water filled to the middle, when asked whether you see the glass as half full or half empty you would throw the water out and say the damned thing is empty.

I truly feel sorry for you guys.

First rule of life, you ain't getting out of it alive, so quit your 'itching, get outside and do something.

I worked in this area and still do .. So, there is actually a very very small amount of farm labor that cannot be mechanized .. and that slice only becomes smaller over time w/ the advancement of technology ...

Wonderful thing called economics/capitalism speed that up when labor is paid a fair and humane wage.. And this cycle is actually good for society as it frees up humans to do more intelligent things .. The problem w/ the sad state of the avg. human is that w/ all the free time they've been given to pursue higher level things, they use it to engage in mindless idiocy.

As for the problem w/ jobs .. that goes to reflect on a growing issue called : over population... which, in its current state wouldn't be so bad if human beings were using the opportunity in which they have been freed from laborious tasks to educate themselves and pursue higher level things... On some of these 'plantations'... Some of these illegal immigrants are still working like the African American slaves of a time long past .. This helps no one but the greedy farmer.

The 'impossible' strawberry picking operation of past years .. made possible by advancements in technology and computer vision :

You don't work in this area if you think that what is currently done by human labor in farming can be, with current technology, easily mechanized. The necessary AI just isn't there....

Nonsense.

Here, I will give you a bit of history. When UFWOC unionized the farm workers in the early 1970's, the growers like my dad, went to UC Davis and said, we need machinery to replace the farmworkers. UC Davis went to work, other commercial outfits went to work, and by the mid 80's pretty much anything that could be mechanized was.

Now, is it is possible to mechanically harvest certain crops like grapes that are traditionally harvested by hand, what results from those machines is not something most people would like to pay for. Like machine harvested grapes and the wine they make.

More nonsense, it must be wonderful to sit in some chair in some building in some city and be able to solve all the worlds problems, particularly when one does not know what one is talking about.

I'd like you to stop and reflect for a moment on that ambulance you saw go by recently, aboard that ambulance are paramedics. Then kick back for a moment and think about the wildfire footage you have seen on the TeeVee. You may have noticed the firefighters dressed in yellow shirts, green pants, hard hats. Those guys are Federal Wildland Firefighters.

Farm labor wages are about the same as what those paramedics and those Federal Wildland Firefighters are paid.

You may also have noticed firefighters dressed completely in orange, well, farm laborers make a heck of a lot more than those guys.

More nonsense, the market sets prices and wages, not some greedy farmer. Econ 101.

You never stop do you? You define what is intelligent and worthwhile for the world and humanity based on yeahthatguy's omniscient vision developed and refined over vast years of adult experience ... what remarkable wisdom you offer to lead us all out of the darkness of our collective "mindless idiocy". By all means, let us move on to pursue all the "higher level things" we have been destined for over the tens of thousands of wasted years we have thrown away before you arrived on the scene to define happiness and worth and fulfillment and contribution.

Seriously? Does the question of psychoanalysis / counseling / medication ever cross your fertile, rabid mind?
Oh yeah, the Dream Act ... speaking of freeing up minds ... oh wait, but not those minds ...

Dude...seriously? Technology has changed dramatically since the 70's and 80's. The sort of computing power, and hence AI, possible today is dramatically different than the 80's.

The farming industry, when the technology becomes available, will almost entirely automate its operations in the coming years...

I work in the embedded systems field... and have training in 3d kinematics and computer vision ...

AI? LOL .. It's called 'computer vision' and 3d kinematics and it is most nearly there... The compute power has been there... This is the 'automation' aspect though ...

The 'mechanization' is already there in the majority of farming .. and it serves to make the tasks less laborious and inhumane....

Note the discussion about how the problems w/ labor prompted them to make the move to full automation ..

Like clock work though .. are the naysayers in complete contradiction w/ the facts. Please stop spreading your misinformed nonsense...
