Gov. Brown signs ban on open handgun carrying - San Jose Mercury News
To say that California has lost its mind is an understatement ..

-> No concealed carry
-> No open carry

Illegals in ...

The whole point of CCW is so you don't have people freaking out when someone has a gun on them... and no.. a law abiding trained citizen who has a legally registered gun is not some vigilante nor do they statistically in anyway account for the amount of gun violence in the U.S. That'd be the criminals who don't exactly go applying for CCW permits before they shoot someone.

The people in this state are showing their true colors..
I can't wait to CC and purchase a real AR-15 once I leave this state.

Meanwhile in DirtJose ...

Why are Americans in general so obsessed with guns?

Geez, are you going to walk around with you hand on the trigger 24/7?

My father used to have a gun. He was attacked by someone with a machete so his answer was to get a gune. One night, I went into his room quietly while he was asleep. I was 8 at the time. He pulled that gun from under his pillow and had it aimed to shoot...then I said the magic word ...."Daddy." Freaked him out so much he got rid of it. He died from a heart attack 40 years later. No one shot him.

Once you've moved to a place where the crime rate is high and the police departments are being decimated by layoffs, budget cuts and are totally unable to respond to calls in a timely manner because they have far fewer officers per 1,000 residents than the state average for cities, you might understand.

Oh wait! You're considering moving to Bakersfield. Enjoy!

PS. When I had guns AND children in the home, the guns were safely locked away with just one being in a readily available, touch combination, steel safety box for quick access. And I was a cop at the time.

Thanks for sharing your anecdotal experience. Contrary to popular belief, Americans aren't obsessed with guns. It's a tool that serves its purpose when one needs to defend their life and that of loved ones. When I head out, i grab my wallet/keys.. If i dont need to spend money/get a credit card, I am not thinking about my wallet.. the same as most people routinely get used to CCW w/o much thought.

Practice gun safety like you're trained and there shouldn't be accidents... Statistically there aren't many because people practice safety..

Good luck to you if something like this ever happens ..

Bakersfield ? As Curmmy said, good luck to you .. I had to drive through there to get to a military base on corporate trips, I wouldn't let the sun set on my arse in that place.

We'd rather not become Great Britain or Australia, and many of us look at laws like this as another foot in the door of total banning/confiscation.

it will go to court. chicago tried to ban guns so did san fran. people have a right to defend themselves.
the all time insane law in CA is nunchuck law mere possession in your house car or basment of 2 sticks connected with a string, is a misdemeanor. if they find 2 of them, its a felony.
(multiple misdemeanors). loaded shotgun? no problem. insane.
