The fine upstanding citizens above will continue to get re-elected despite their poor judgement and will continue to use that poor judgement when running the state.

Gosh! Let me see if I can put it in simple enought terms fer ya.

One's a state legislator and the other is the Director of Finance.

gov·ern·ance/ˈgəvərnəns/Noun: 1.The action or manner of governing.
2.Sway; control.

10 bonus points for the Assemblywoman choosing to shoplift at N-M rather than Walmart or **shudder** Kmart. If you're gonna risk your career, make it count.

Don't we (as a society) have something on the books somewhere that says if someone is caught breaking the law they can't hold public office? We ought to. That would make it hard for anyone to be POTUS but still...we could probably get pot legal in a hurry.

I don't see how the actions of two represent the governance of an entire state (with over 38 million people).

I've not read that there has been a rash of shoplifting by members of the state assemby or state senate. One idiot's action does not represent a trend of any sort.

As for the Director of Finance, very poor judgement on her part to drive while intoxicated but to date she has served with honor two governors (both Arnold and Jerry).

So I guess it's OK with you then. Sign of the times. And, yes, there are a lot of people in CA but not that many representatives of its governance at the state level - 120 members of the Legislature and a relative handful representing the Administration.

I was very surprised by Ana Matosantos. I worked directly with her in legislation for about a year and a half and admired (still do, in fact) her intelligence, knowledge and expertise. Very bright and capable.
