2008 Malbec from Hahn Estates.
I just popped the cork on this one and had to write.
I'll give my best connoisseur's review right here: "Very nice!"

No favorites for me, as there are way too many CA wines out there, but this one is quite special if you run across it.

At any rate, any memorable CA wines come to mind for you folks?

Yeah, the plonk I cook with is excellent. Carlo Rossi Burgundy in the big bottle with the screw cap.

I also have a fine Charles Shaw Cab, 2007 that is exquisite (pronounced in a fake French accent)

Indeed. Robert Parker gave both very high marks. Especially the sonorous "Two-Buck Chuck".

Parcel 17, The Spaniard, from Twisted Oak any vintage. Twisted OakWinery - Rhone Spanish Tempranillo Viognier Petite Sirah

Big John Zinfandel, 2008 Petit Verdot both from Newsome Harlow Newsome Harlow

Almost every wine from any of these wineries I've found to be great. http://www.calaveraswines.org/my_web...-wineries.html But then again, I'm a homeboy and I know most of the winemakers.

I'm a sucker for anything from Justin. Their Isoceles is awesome. Their Cab is phenomenal as well. I have a few bottles of their 97 Cab. One is being chilled as I type. We're going to celebrate our relocation to Monterey.

I had a red Zin while dining out recently and it was delicious. Unfortunately you can only purchase this wine from the winery at a restaurant that carries it.

Pretty much anything that is one special at Costco is great wine in my estimation. However I still have quite few bottles of my C.Shaw from the several cases I bought a few years ago that I use for cooking.

I shouldn't have worried about posting about Charles Shaw ("Two Buck Chuck") because I didn't want to be seen as mocking the OP. I see now by other posts that I'm not the only one to like their wine.

In fact "Two Buck Chuck" Charles Shaw Chardonnay is my favorite wine, and I buy it a case at a time from Trader Joe's Market. If I felt energetic (I don't) I would go dig up a link to my reference news article where Shaw beat out wines costing over $20/bottle in a California wine tasting (I think I posted it here before on the C-D forum.). For the most part I find it difficult to find wines that please me more until I get up into the $20/bottle range typical retail price.

So I like my Two Buck Chuck plonk. Goes well with seafood, steak or microwave.

I'm actually reluctant to even post this for selfish reasons. But I've been drinking this $4 wine from Trader Joe's for a while now. It's nearly as good as Folix a Deus Menage a Trois which costs $8-9. They were getting low at my local TJ's, hopefully they get more in stock.
