The neighboring towns of Atherton, Woodside, Portola Valley, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Los Altos Los Altos Hills are all very prestigious as a place of residence and even more prestigious as a business address.

The combined population of those 7 neighboring towns is 149,000 but there are 25 billionaires

How about Belvedere, Tiburon and Piedmont. This list is looking a little short.

Yeah those towns are definitely prestigious too, the Bay Area has several 'prestigious' towns and big city neighborhoods.

I was simply stating which I thought was the most prestigious in California. I say its Atherton but there are plenty of other places locally and around the state that are high brow as well.

Well I was speaking purely from a Northern California perspective as Atherton has been in the top spot for many years for all of California. It's where the power elite live that do not want to be identified as the power elite. I understand Durate in SoCal is now the hot spot for living the High Life.

Duarte did well in a recent income or home price stat.

Other than that, Im pretty sure that most Southern Californians will agree that while there are plenty of prestigious areas down there, the most absolute prestigious location in that vast megalopolis is probably found somewhere between the West Hollywood/Beverly Hills border and Malibu.

That's what I was able to deduce from living down there, but perhaps a more knowledgable SoCal person can chime in.

Well, Beverly Park is probably the most "prestigious" place in SoCal -- it's a gated community above Beverly Hills where Eisner, Stallone, and other big names live.

Although of the list, my FAVORITE (not necessarily prestigious), has to be Laguna Beach.

Looks like Malibu and Laguna Beach are showing some early results. Emerald Bay is pretty amazing but I've sadly never been to any Malibu beaches, are they just as great?
